Hi Everyone,

The winner of the vote for the July 2024 Book of the Month is The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.

I should be getting my copy from the library tomorrow, so I will see then if there is a good way to break up the book to create a reading schedule.

Update: I got my copy of the book from the library tonight, so here is a reading schedule based on my copy. (your page numbers will probably be different)

Week 1: July 1-8 Chapters 1-5 pp. 1-33
Week 2: July 9-15 Chapters 6-10 pp. 34-82
Week 3: July 16-22 Chapters 11-15 pp. 83-135
Week 4: July 23-31 Chapters 16-19 pp. 136-198

For those who need a copy of the book, it looks like there is a free version at Project Gutenberg;

I am looking forward to starting this book, it has been on my "to-read" list forever.

I have not read a lot of Hemingway in the past: I really liked For Whom the Bell Tolls when I did it in one of the Catch up Challenges a a few years back and like most people, I read The Old Man and the Sea way back in high school.

Cheers,
Ian

Larry Hall | 123 comments Finished it loved it. I'm a huge fan of Hemingway and have read most of his work. I have been wanting to do a reread of all his work for a few years and this may have sparked me too actually do that. I always struggle when I get to actually picking my next read because my TBR is so long, and my shelves are full of unread books that it's hard for me to go back. I rarely am sorry when I do reread an old favorite so how do you all handle the struggle between rereads and new to you TBRs. just curious.

I finished this book today. I did like the ending. The characters in this novel are well developed and fit the time period of this great read. I completely enjoyed this book. It was refreshing to look back on how complicated relationships and friendships were among the very wealthy. Follow the link below to read my review: Enjoy Reading, 📚
