It's not really YA as more of Middle school. Cause middle school books are usually shorter.

Each team have to spell out their power. Each team you spell out your power you get 100 points.

You can use
Title
Author first or last name
Characters first or last name

So each team member spells out the power in its entirety?

How many times can each team spell out their power, is it only once or can it be more?

So if I have this correct each week? we have to read books that spellout the word we are given in my case - Motherhhod. Each team member must spell the word?

Can we use books that we've started before May 3 as long as we finish them after the start date or do we only use books started on May 3 or after?

Your team trys and spell out the word as many tines as they can see ex above

Lizz, how long do we have to work on our spell out? I know the challenge begins May 3, but I'm not clear on when the spell out challenge ends. Is it only the first week of May, the whole month of May, or even longer?

You spell out as many times that your team can. So say your team spelled it out 3 times so y'all would get 300 points. I hope that made sense

Yes there will be mini challenges coming once it starts

Does each person on the team spell out motherhood for example, by themselves and then once the whole team has each spelled it out you get your points? Or is it where each teammate contributes to the word, for example:
M: Jane read a m book
O: Lisa reads an o book
T: Christi reads a t book
Etc, etc
Then once the word is done you get your points?

Each teammate contributes to the word and once the word is done you get 100 points and then your team can try and spell it out again for another 100 points and so on

When it comes to characters, is it only main characters or can it be any character in the book as long as they have a couple lines of dialogue? and also do Nicknames count?

for many of the pantheon many of. the gods have different names that are attached to them. so if I'm reading a book with the god Odin but he is called by his other name is that ok? also does the main character if the book have to be a god or hero in the pantheon or can they be secondary character? for example in would a book where a character becomes or is a valkyrie work? also are heroes and legendary people considered part of the pantheon?

You can read any genre of book for the letters in the word, correct. They don't have to have Roman gods (in my case) in order to count but if they do you get bonus points, correct?

It can be secondary characters and you can use nicknames

Yes you can use the god/ddess other name, the MC doesn't have to be a god/ddess, they can be a secondary character

any genre works and yes you are right if the books doesn't have gods in it you only get the main points but if they do you get the bonus points

Lizz, I hope please forgive me if this has already been covered. For the 50 points if a god is in the book we are reading - is that 50 points total for that book? Or is it 20 points (for a book <250 pages) plus 50 points (if the god is in our book), 70 points total.

For example: If I read Book Title A, which is a 230 page book with Odin in it, would my points be 20 for the book, plus 50 bonus points (because Odin is in my book) for a total of 70 points?

Or would it just be 50 points because Odin is in my 230 page book?

Sorry is I am rambling. I'm just not clear on if the 50 points is extra (on top of the book points), or if it is just one or the other.

It will be just for 50 points

It has to be the first word besides like the a and so on

You can read anything pantheons

It doesn't need to be a mythology book, it can just be a book with gods in it?

Did I read somewhere that each time we spell out our power (ie. Thunderbolt) we receive 100 points

Since not all the words are the same length is there an evening up factor?

ZEUS-Lightning (9 letters)
JUPITER-Thunderbolt (11 letters)
ODIN-Knowledge (9 letters)
ISIS-Motherhood (10 letters)
MORRIGAN-Shapechanger (12 letters)

I've never seen a challenge that lets you start the book before the challenge begins.

In essence I can have started a book for each letter in Thunderbolt and as long as I finish it on May 3 when we start it counts.

Wouldn't it be fairer that we can't start the book until May 3?

Also can we start building the next word if we haven't completed the one before? What happens if someone is slower or not available that day and we are only missing their letter?

If I'm keeping track of the books and two people read for the letter K. Can I use the second book for the next word spelling or does the entire word need to be completed before moving on?
