recommend me some books you absolutely loved. and please try to convince me to read it (with some quotes maybe?) i want to read more good books especially classics.. <3
if you haven't read pride and prejudice do that. jane eyre. madame bovary. the secret garden. the bell jar is a popular book in movies but i never hear of anyone reading them in real life which is odd. the unabridged journals of sylvia plath as well. i believe plaths works have to do with the struggles of being a woman and are a hit classic in movies like ten things i hate about you. speaking of which, that movie is based of the taming of the shrew by shakespeare, if you've never read that. there are so many classic must-reads, this list could go on forever. but personally, that's where my head is at right now.
Letters to a young poet!! It's a super short book, it's epistolary, and all the letters are so lyrical and absolutely amazing <3 Besides that, I second Pride and Prejudice, it's a classic for a reason, no contemporary romance could ever compare to p&p.. And, on a different note, Dostoevsky, I just love his books, my favorite is Notes from Underground, but I'm not sure if Rory read that one, she did read Crime and Punishment tho
the bell jar is magnificent work to be honest, also the unabridged journals of Sylvia plath. Pride and Prejudice too, and if you're a very advanced reader, Crime and punishment (russian literature can make you take your eyes out of their sockets from anger. the translations can sometimes be so vague.) Any Shakespeare play, such as Macbeth or romeo and Juliet!
I've read The Bell Jar and loved it of course (never knew there was a movie about it. will definitely watch it soon). Currently also reading the unabridged journals of Sylvia Plath.. pride and prejudice and most of Jane Austen's books are already in my list.. planning to read The Crime and Punishment soon.. Romeo and Juliet doesn't have the kind of storyline I usually like but I'm planning to read it too to read Shakespeare
1984 is a really good classic! I read it and loved it! Although I would recommend reading it during winter :) It’s a dystopian novel and it’s basically just about a society without freedom.
i want to read more good books especially classics.. <3
