So I'm loving this. The pacing is perfect and it feels so summery to me. I've also already had butterfly "aw" feelings, as expected from Morgan Matson (the part where Gideon drew the cherry drawings on her wrist and basically anytime Frank is around and being awkwardly adorable).

Wondering:
1. What happened between Gideon, Sam, Sloane, and Emily?
2. Are Frank and his gf still together?! Because it's really hard for me to fully endorse a pairing if one is actually taken.

Looking forward to Emily checking more things off the list!

Nicky Goldsmith | 10 comments Just read chapters 1-3. I like the direction the book is going, but admit I'm a bit irritated with Emily. I can't describe it, she's a bit of a drip. People seem so nice to her so far and she doesn't know how to react. I'm really hoping I get to like her in the upcoming chapters.

I'm loving the book, really enjoying it. I like the writing style, and I feel like Morgan Matson writes really lovely descriptive phrases, and everything feelds so vivid and fresh.

As far as Emily goes, I feel similar to you Nicky. I like her, but she seems quite weak without Sloane, and it's almost like Sloane validates her and I don't like how she feels so....incapable and like she's nothing without her. That being said, i expect that's her journey so I think that will change.

But it's a very easy book to read, enjoyable and I want to know what happenes between Gideon, Sam, Sloane and Emily too.

I also have a theory about the Jamie task! x

Barbs (barbs89) Totally agree with both of you. I really want to love the book but right now I just feel irritated by Emily.

I'm wondering about the same thing as you Sam :D Is Frank still with his girlfriend? That was the first question I asked myself while reading.

Nicky Goldsmith | 10 comments So glad you both feel the same. Thought it was just me

Adriana (adriana_) I think Sloane realised that Emily was too dependent on her, that's why se created the list, to prove Emily that she is capable of doing anything she wants, by herself. That's why I really like Sloane, she's trying to help her, I mean, she could have just taken advantage of Emily, but she didn't.

Also, Emily is an insecure person, and insecure people act like that. They questioned everything they do and to feel good with their actions, they need somebody else's approval.

^ @Adriana - yes, that's what I'm thinking too! :) Emily is grating on me a little bit but like you say, if someone is that insecure they would constantly think the way she does, so while she is frustrating, it is actually still realistic and i think that is why Sloane created the list, so it's all about character development etc.

:)

I am really enjoying this book. I really like Sloane, to me she is like the older sibling taking care of the younger sister. It feels like every task on the list has a hidden message and or meaning. There is a hidden message in everything Sloane has left behind for Emily.

I love reading the flash backs... They are my favorite!

The flash backs are very enjoyable, in some books they aren't because you are constantly reminded that this is in the past from the current story, but they are really fun and they show such a genuine, silly, fun, teen friendship.
