Old Books, New Readers discussion

The theme for our August 2024 BOTM is heroes and/or heroines. Nominate a classic that has a hero and/or heroine as the main theme. I look forward to seeing your nominations.

A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway.

I love Classical Gothic literature and I have been wanting to read this one for a while but haven’t quite managed to get around to it. I nominate The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe

I'd like to nominate King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard.

It was first published in 1885 and is the first in the Allan Quartermain books. I saw the movie back in the 80's, but I have never read the book.

Lady Anna by Anthony Trollope - I've never read anything by this author, and recently picked up Lady Anna in a used book store and would enjoy the motivation for reading it alongside others!

I nominate Far From The Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy.
