Hi, everyone! This is the thread for the "Commit to one book monthly" challenge. In this thread, post one book you intend to read in May, so everyone else can see your pick. When you finish reading it, we'd love for you to come back and post your opinion. I expect everyone's TBRs to suffer because of this monthly reading challenge, but I'm prepared to make that sacrifice. Are you? :-D

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 231 comments I’m waiting till the very end of the month to decide on a book and also see what I finish this month. I am looking at 2 Isabelle Allende books as choices. But, if a library book comes in this week, that may change.

Bonnie | 705 comments A True Account Hannah Masury’s Sojourn Amongst the Pyrates, Written by Herself by Katherine Howe since I'll be reading it with a bookclub, finger's crossed I finish it. I've been a slump lately, not finishing most books I start.

We've all been there, Bonnie. :)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 231 comments I’m still reading books I started in July but will commit to one that I’m starting today for August - A Zoo in My Luggage by Gerald Durrell. I’m listening to the audiobook.

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 231 comments I finished my selection- A Zoo in my Luggage. It was really good and I plan to read some more books by this author, Gerald Durrell. Since it’s non-fiction, I will also add it to the non-fiction challenge thread.

I did finish it- and liked it a lot. Liked the characters and both timeline stories (I have been getting tired of the two timeline novels, but this one was just 2 and fairly linear and equally interesting.

Finished my book!!! 5 stars! Loved the twist at the end!

I did read this one for a book club. It wasn't what I expected, but it made me cry when it explored the life of one of the swimmers and her dementia.

Appreciate and show those you care about how much they mean to you now. You never know when things can change.

OH I love her books, Diana! I hope you like this. Plus I've lived in the south my entire adult life and we are mighty fond of the concept, if not the execution, of a good old fashioned hair-pulling name-calling shoe-throwing hissy fit.

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 231 comments I’m going to commit to a 2nd book, another non-fiction, this month: Cue the Sun!: The Invention of Reality TV by Emily Nussbaum. I heard about it on the Bookcase podcast this past week.

Snuck it in under the wire, Bill! Me too: I finally finished my pick, Broadway A History of New York City in Thirteen Miles by Fran Leadon Broadway: A History of New York City in Thirteen Miles today. I hadn't realized that the original broadway ultimately connected (and I guess still does) all the way from the Canadian line (via highway 9) to the familiar length of it in NYC.
