Ramsey says something particularly vile regarding Stahl’s abduction of Sam and she punches him in the face. He trips and falls down the stairs and gets injured. First, did he earn that punch or should she have had more restraint? Does he have a case against her? Will he try?

He did earn the punch but she should have been more restrained. In real life she would have been disciplined if not fired and charged. Just because someone needs a good punch doesn't mean we are allowed to do it.

It was vile but Sam's reaction was excessive.
Again, police violence is unacceptable in any situation. She should be able to control herself and her behavior is no better than Freddie - perhaps worse as she is an experienced senior officer and should know better.

Any other cop would be suspended for assaulting a fellow officer.
Force's wishy-washy treatment of this issue is very irritating.

He deserved the punch in my opinion. I don't side with violent by police as a rule, but Ramsey was wrong too.

She deserved to be suspended for doing that. Yes, he's a jerk and needs a punch in the mouth, but she can't do that kind of stuff. What if he broke his neck when he fell down the stairs? She could be up on manslaughter charges. I was really mad that she hit him. And I was mad at Farnsworth & Malone for not putting her in her place.

Yes, he should know better and so should Sam.

I guess the thing that made me want to punch him, and give Sam a pass, is he was Stahl's leak.

He definitely was Stahl's leak, but that doesn't give the superiors the power to give her a pass for assault. What he said was vile, but Sam has a wicked sharp tongue, and she should have cut him down with that.
