Kyle Keeley enters an essay contest trying to win a chance to spend the night in a new library designed by one of his heroes, the eccentric wealthy game maker Luigi Lemoncello. Mr. Lemoncello has a surprise in store for the selected group of twelve-year-olds. The one-night sleepover turns into an elaborate escape room, with the entire library as the “game board.” This book is fun. The kids must discover clues and solve puzzles to figure out how to escape, and thus win the grand prize. Many puzzles have to do with books and authors. The kids are a bit more knowledgeable about literature than average, but part of the enjoyment is their obvious love of books. I particularly liked the emphasis on teamwork and rewards for positive contributions. It should hold great appeal for middle grade readers.

My son would have loved these but he was a little older than the age range when this came out. I know I would have loved reading them with him.
