Hello, everyone! We have all obviously read Percy Jackson and I don't know about you guys, but when I first heard of the series, I was confused as to why Rick Riordan hasn't written a book about the son of Zeus or Hades, seemingly the most important gods out of the big three.
I obviously knew who Poseidon was, but I never considered him so important. And that's exactly why a book about a son of Poseidon makes total sense.
The Lost Hero shows us exactly why a son of Zeus wouldn't be our favourite main character, while I love Jason and he is my favourite character ever, he is not a good main character. He would be amazing as a side kick, but we see that he isn't cut out to be a main character because the storyline would be boring.
A son of Hades as a main character? Again, amazing as a side kick, quite boring as a main character.
But these are the gods that every teacher made us know their stories. These are the gods that Disney labeled as a (laughter in the background) hero, amazing dad etc etc (more laughter) and THE EVILLLLLLLLL of ancient Greece. (They forgot to do their homework, but A for the effort, lol).
But Poseidon? Yeah, whatever he's the middle god, forget about him, let's focus on these two.
Percy Jackson made a lot of readers like the god and be more interested in his story.
And Percy being Poseidon's son wasn't even predictable because he was the least famous brother.

What do you guys think?

I have to agree, being a son of Poseidon made it more exciting

I saw this short and it was like

Zeus’s pr team: Hercules (which I don’t like that movie 🫣)

Hades’s pr team: the _____ of Olympus graphic novels with him and Persephone

And then it was like Poseidon’s: PERCY JACKSON 😎

The more classical Poseidon seems more temperamental and more fear-evoking, but Rick makes his temper and his actions more loving (even if he is still ego-centric like all the gods), but more like a calm ocean breeze.

yes!!! rick portrayed poseidon as the ocean, sometimes stormy, sometimes calm and letting everything go as it’s meant. it’s really interesting and from a writer’s standpoint - rick has truly thought everything out and it’s clear than he knows his characters
