I've been watching a little bit of the Olympics. Mostly the prime-time coverage on NBC.
We're going to a baseball game this weekend (and rooting for the visiting team because they're my team), but otherwise, no exciting plans for the immediate future.
Finished:
Dying with Her Cheer Pants On by Seanan McGuire - 4.5 stars - for a book about women's sports. This is a set of interconnected short stories about the Fighting Pumpkins, a very Buffy-esque group of supernatural California cheerleaders who protect their town/the world from evil. Written with McGuire's usual eye for character and clever dialogue. The first story is the earliest and the weakest, but the rest are much better and where she hits her stride with this concept.
Slow Dance by Rainbow Rowell - 3.5 stars - not for a prompt, but this would work for Popsugar's second chance romance. The story of two people who have been in love since high school but took until their 30s to start to figure it out. Overall, I was engaged enough to keep reading but the characters kind of got on my nerves, too.
Currently reading:
The Apothecary Diaries (Light Novel): Volume 4 by Natsu Hyuuga - still loving this series.
Upcoming/Planned:
Full Speed to a Crash Landing by Beth Revis - for Popsugar's book set in space.
Valor's Choice by Tanya Huff - for Popsugar's book that was published 24 years ago (2000) and Robot Librarian's book about/taking place during a war that is not WWI or WWII.
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan for Popsugar's book that was turned into a musical and Robot Librarian's book that has been adapted into a TV show or streamed series.
QOTW:
Honestly, I don't change my reading habits much during the summer. I don't really fit into any of those categories.

No new finishes for me this week; after the Stuff last week I just did a comfort reread of Hither, Page and The Missing Page. Objectively they have some flaws, but I just like the characters. I should probably buy the eBooks instead of requesting them on Libby all the time.
QOTW: I don't generally read differently in the summer, either. The only book on the list that I actually read this summer is under "Jet-Setting", but I was not traveling when I read it. The list where I have the most previous reads is "Outdoorsy".
I just posted all of my recent reads in the last thread, so I won't repeat myself.
QotW:
none of those categories resonated with me. My summer reading differs in volume, not type. I've got a few more weeks left before school starts and my book consumption slows down!

I hope your week went well. Are any of you watching the Olympics? We are trying now. We were traveling to visit our kids when they started and our kids don't really have a TV in their homes. They watch things through their computer monitors. Now that we're home we can watch normally.
I only have one finish this week. I finished my Kindle book Still the Sun. The story was interesting but only 3 stars from me. The first 80% of the book was very slow and in excruciating detail of the MC fixing a machine. Then everything happened in the last 20%. I enjoyed the story itself, but found the book and wrap up a bit unsatisfying.
I started a kindle short story Natural Selection: A Short Story. I am not far enough into it to have any opinion on it.
I am listening to Malibu Rising. I am about halfway through it and it is getting better and more interesting. The beginning was a bit slow for me but now I'm engaged and invested in the characters.
QOTW:
What kind of summer reader are you?https://www.goodreads.com/blog/show/2...
Without intention, this summer has been The Busy Bee Reader for me, with a little bit of Summer Lovin' thrown in. I've been really into the Amazon short story collections because they're short, lightweight and don't require too much investment. Perfect for walks and listening on flights.
