I was saving this question for our next book, but since ReadsandEats brought up timewalking in another thread: Where and when would you travel to if you could timewalk? And--if you feel like delving a little deeper--what three objects would you choose to guide you on your journey?

Readsandeats | 54 comments Since I sort of started this thread I should answer.
There are probably two different answers, I would go back to the30's as I love art deco and would love to wear some of the fantastic clothes and jewellery (this from someone who hates shopping for clothes and is very happy in jeans and a polo shirt!!),secondly I would go back to see Eric Liddell win gold at the 1924 Paris Olympics.

I would choose as my 3 items my favourite book, a ring my parents bought me for my last birthday and a picture of my favourite place.

Glad you like the name Julie, it is because I like to read and cook.

Susan Strauss | 6 comments Definitely, Alexandria in the time of Hypatia. Since I need three things from that period, I would trust Philippe to share a scroll from the Library at Alexandria (Plotinus), a small glass vial that would have held essential oil, and an ancient coin with an imprint of the owl - one of the symbols of Athena and wisdom. Irresistible.

Deborah | 15 comments I would timewalk to three different eras in southern England/London. Dressed in appropriate attire, I would conceal coins and a pocket knife under my clothes. My third object would be a book (for autographing!) written by each of the people I would visit to primarily chat about astrology:

Winter 1572 – see Tycho’s star and John Dee (“Monas Hieroglyphica”)
1650s – Meet Elias Ashmole (“Theatrum Chemicum Britannicum”) and his friend William Lilly (“Christian Astrology”)
Travel 100 years into the future.

Harder than making the timewalks would be convincing my husband to accompany me.

You are certainly well prepared, Deborah! I say leave your husband at home if he's reluctant. You'll find plenty of adventure!

Readsandeats | 54 comments Mind you your husband may find people who interest him there as well and could come back with new ideas and thoughts. But is reluctant then leave him at home with a list of jobs to be done for your return!!

Deborah | 15 comments To Julie: ;-)

To Readsandeats: Giving him a list of jobs to do is a terrific idea because under that condition I know he would rather accompany me! :-)

Readsandeats | 54 comments Glad you liked my idea. Just make sure the list of jobs are so dull and boring he would definitely want to time travel with you :-)

Jessica (jessical1961) If I could time walk I would definitely want to go back to Jerusalem and experience the final week of Christ's passion. The problem with time walking that far back would be finding three objects from that time period to use.

Hmm. Have I made it too hard asking about the three items? Maybe so... after all, it's not as if we all have the de Clermonts' extensive collection to draw upon!
