Long awaited sequel to the spy thriller "I Am Pilgrim", and fans are likely to be disappointed.
In short, the author squeezed two books into one -- a spy thriller similar to the first book and a post pandemic, science fiction thread to tie the plot together. It does not work; the book would have benefitted from stronger editing or breaking the nearly 800 page tome into two releases. Also, the writing is uneven and plot lines unbelievable. While unrelated, this is potentially a bad omen for "The Winds of Winter", when it is finally released.
3 stars, which is the average of 3.5 (spy thriller) and 2.5 (science fiction).
