Play Book Tag discussion

This is the follow up to An Ember in the Ashes, which I just read for a buddy read. This story did NOT match what I was expecting after reading the end of book 1. (I was careful this time, I did not read the description of look 3.) That was a big plus I suppose, because it was not predictable, but the level of violence was excessive. This book has a few Game of Throne type twists, plus more supernatural elements. The farseeing godlike characters in the book are pretty evil imo. I still like the three main characters, and I wonder where they’ll all end up, but at this point I don’t plan to read the next book.

I thought An Ember in the Ashes was book 1 in the series. No? I am enjoying the book but it not my normal genre and I don’t plan to read any others in the series. However, there are a lot me pages to read so my decision might be too premature.
