Readers and Activists for Palestine discussion

Due to high demand (😄) and the need to discuss things with the moderators ALL IN ONE PLACE, this discussion thread has now been created.

Soooooo, we need to discuss two things:

1) There should be a section for our members to make "reports" about issues, topics, discussions, OR problematic members. Because I literally just got a complaint about how one of our members had reached out to a moderator about a problematic member but NEVER got a response back, so this is to ensure that any moderator who's currently active can see it on the future "report" section from here on out.

2) I liked Qamar's idea for a challenge question upon entry for new members to join our group. It'll be complicated at first since we'll have to manually let people in, but this will also help weed out potential threats. For the challenge question itself, I was thinking that it could be something short and simple like this: "Give us three reasons why Palestine should be free."

But I'm not going to act on any of these until I hear out all of y'alls' opinions and stuff. Please respond back as soon as you can!! 🤍

hmm ok see the problem with the challenge question for me is that new people wont be able to view our discussion boards and decide if they want to join or not because the group will be private and i also do exactly agree with the question you suggested, bc what if the member is someone who wants to learn about palestine so they dont really know much yet? another reason why i dont think making the group private is the best bc the new members who want to learn about whats happening cant view our discussion boards. but at the same time it would keep out creeps who want to intelligence gather or other creepy shit so idrk i feel like theres pros and cons but thats just my thought process

So can we all agree though to set up a 'report' section for people to send their queries to?

And can we PLEASE have an area designated for those who want to advertise their books and stuff, because people post big messages and links to books on the main chat and I feel like it takes away from that being a very like "group chat" vibe or whatever.

I talked to Niyya a few weeks ago regarding a separate topic for donations. I've actually talked to various Palestinians seeking financial aid and I think posting their links here would help a lot.

I hope it's fine if I do start a seperate folder for it

I also really like the idea for ppl advertising their books and ofc the report. I must be living under a rock bc I didnt know there was an israel group lol

@Nour I like that idea, so why don’t we have a folder called “Action” for the different discussions that need to be added, like the reports section, the donations section, the book advertisement section, and a section that we can even have for quick access to people’s status updates about Palestine that we can all help boost. How does that sound by everyone?

I think we should have the group on private. I am just worried that Creed is gonna have more people not join but stalk the chat. I feel like this group will be safer if its on private if you get what I mean

So I understand completely that school is starting for some of you and that it’s already started for most of you, so I just wanted to ask about who would still be able to be active as a moderator on this group during the school semester?

PLEASE DO NOT FEEL PRESSURE AND DO NOT FEEL GUILTY, there is nothing wrong with not being active right now or even for this semester, but like we have quite a few things that need to be discussed and thought through; so that’s why I’m asking this. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Can we consider new moderators who will be active often to join?

This semester is looking pretty easy for me (InshAllah), so I know that I’ll be able to be on here a lot more to help out and manage stuff.
