Use this thread to ask for help finding books that complete the challenge, or give recommendations for those who may need it!

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3837 comments The hardest letter for me is Y. I have 2 Chinese authors- Yan Lianke and Mo Yan, one title Young Mungo and one genre (YA) The Book Thief. I’ll probably save that letter for last and see what other people are reading. It’s a very uncommon letter for the books I own!

I have The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo slotted in for the endangered species/wild animal prompt in October, and that would cover a Y!

The best bet for a title is probably Yelllow - Yellowface, The Yellow House, etc.

message 7: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3837 comments Thank you Victoria and Robin for your ideas! I had recently added The Safe Keep but forgot the author’s first name was Yael. Perfect! That’s one I def want to read! Robin - I like the idea of searching on the word Yellow. I found something doing that. Now, I have too many options. 😂😂😂 I’m trying to read books I own but, well, that never really works out. If I can limit this challenge to only 1 or 2 library books then I’m calling it good.

Alistair | 53 comments Weirdly, I'm having trouble with the "I"s. I have "I Shall Wear Midnight" by Terry Pratchett and then it seems to be a lot of horror books? Does anyone have a recommendation that's not a horror or a thriller?

John Warner (jwarner6comcastnet) | 173 comments One of my best books read this year was A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. If you have an opportunity to listen to the audiobook, it will be well worth your while. There are other good ones by Irving, including The Cider House Rules and The World According to Garp. All are literary fiction and examples of excellent writing.

Ilona Andrews is a husband & wife writing duo. I highly recommend everything they've written. Or you could try the Dinosaur Sanctuary manga series by Itaru Kinoshita. It's a lot of fun, if you want Jurassic Park without all the death and things going wrong.

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3837 comments Alastair - I’m reading The Crooked Plow by Itamar Vieira Junior, which was short listed for the 2024 International Booker prize and long listed for the 2024 International Dublin literary award. I’m loving it! Kazuo Ishiguro is another option for an author.

Kim (kmyers) | 539 comments How are leading prepositions in titles handled? (Does The Paris Novel count for T or P)?

Generally, I am dropping the leading articles, such as A, An, and The, and using the word reference.

Turid | 39 comments Some more suggestions for I:
- If I Survive You by Jonathan Escoffery (this is what I plan to read, so I don't know much about it yet)
- Intermezzo by Sally Rooney (this should be out by the end of the month)
- Anything written by Kazuo Ishiguro (such an excellent author!)
- Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli (ya queer romance / coming of age, so much better than I expected it to be)
- The Ice Palace by Tarjei Vesaas (a Norwegian classic, it's equal parts beautiful and creepy)
- I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman (really good ya book about parasocial relationships and fandom culture)
- Anything by Henrik Ibsen (if you are into classical plays or poetry)
