Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments All done 😊
⓸ SLOW & STEADY GOAL: 24 hours; over 4 or more days; 2-7 hrs a day

Number of days/hours spent reading: 7 days/24 hrs

Number and/or list of books read: 3 books
Awakening of the Pack (The Other Wolf #4) by Heather G. Harris The Serpent and the Wings of Night (Crowns of Nyaxia, #1) by Carissa Broadbent The Ashes & the Star-Cursed King (Crowns of Nyaxia, #2) by Carissa Broadbent

Number of pages read: 1508 pgs

Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? Fun, esp since I enjoyed all of my reads. Every day, I read before I fall asleep and when I wake up, so I knew I’d reach the goal without any stress.

Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare? No, this isn't my first RAT, but I think it’s my first w/SOS. 🤔 Ours is better, IMHO, b/c we offer different time frame options vs mandatory 24-hours straight only. But, I’ve done that in the past, as a buddy read, and really enjoyed it. ( Lookin at you, Miss Sandra ☺️ )

Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason? I did, but one was long and had a baby cliffy so I jumped into book 2, which wasn’t on my list. The length of two meant no add’l pre-chosen books read.

Did you have a favorite reading spot? bed

Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it? nah

Did you discover a new series, author or genre? new series and new author: Crowns of Nyaxia by Carissa Broadbent / https://www.goodreads.com/series/3500...

Did you read alone or with partner? alone but hubby was also reading his own books next to me 🤓😍

Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats? kindle unlimited loaners

~Melissa~ | 1616 comments Give us the 24 hr Read a Thon Scoop:

✓ Number of days/hours spent reading
✓ Number of pages read

5 days of reading TOTAL: 26 hrs 2,151 pgs

✓ Number and/or list of books read

Listened and read Assistant to the Villain (Assistant to the Villain, #1) by Hannah Nicole Maehrer - better when I read than listened. Heard of this book off tiktok. Unsure if I want to continue this series.

Velvet Cruelty (Snow White, #1) by Eve Dangerfield started the Snow White Trilogy and will finish it. I thought I'd continue this for the RaT but the next series mentioned below derailed this. I do have next downloaded to my kindle from KU ready to go, lol.

The Zodiac Queen - 6 books
Read Cancer (The Zodiac Queen, #4) by Gemma James >> Sagittarius (The Zodiac Queen, #9) by Gemma James - wish I had known this series wasn't finished. Unknown when she will get to Capricorn > Pisces.

Continued a series I started earlier. Bloodmagic (Blood Destiny, #2) by Helen Harper Terrible covers and the FMC aggravates me but will continue the Blood Destiny series

American King (New Camelot Trilogy, #3) by Sierra Simone - finished the last book in the trilogy - went on to read the after short story and 2 books to finish out people from this set. Want to start Lyonesse series by same author and we are (sort of) introduced to characters for this one.

Optional Add'l Info to Share:
✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete?
>> Fun - only chore is remembering to come on here and post. I start strong and then rl gets in the way, lol

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare?
>> I've participated for several years now. Love it every year gets me back into my reading groove after the summer.

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason?
>> Moody reader here so never really plan what I'm going to read. I have planned in the past and never end up following that plan. So I don't do it anymore.

✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot?
>> ebooks I read mostly in my bed. I listen to audios on my commute and sometimes while working.

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it?
>> Using the slow and steady I fit in my reading when it works for my life/time.

✓ Did you read alone or with partner?
> Alone

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats?
> Mix of audio and ebooks.

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? Fun, absolutely!!!

✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare? I have done it once before, and I'm game to go again! This year, I decided to use my timer on my phone to actually read 8 hours, so every time I took a break or checked my emails, I stopped the timer. That went super well, with only the last day being a bit of a downer as I got interrupted so often 😞

✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason? I chose my books up front... and read none of em 😅 I am a mood reader, so yeah, now I know that planning ahead never really works for me.

✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot? On the sofa, with the cats 🐱

✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it? Nah, I scheduled it in my calendar, so I knew not to book anything else those days. And once you start reading, nothing else matters 😅

✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre? I discovered two new authors: Jayne Hawke and Kimberly Quay.

✓ Did you read alone or with partner? Alone

✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats? eBooks

Optional Add'l Info to Share:

✓ Did you find it fun or was it more of a chore to complete? always fun :-)
✓ Is this your first time participating in a Read-a-Thon? If so, would you participate again or was once enough? If not, how did this year's RAT compare? not my first and probably also not my last
✓ Did you choose RAT books in advance? If so, were you able to read all of the books you'd set aside? Did you find yourself straying from your chosen books and reading more based on mood or another reason? I rarely pick books in advance of any kind of challenge, unless it's a book club read, then I will obviously read it no matter what.
✓ Did you have a favorite reading spot? not this time, no
✓ Did you find it difficult to stick to your reading schedule? If so, how'd ya overcome it? I don't set a schedule, I just read whenever I can, usually on the commute to work and in bed in the evenings, but for the rest..
✓ Did you discover a new series, author or genre? Yes! Read the first part of the first book in Sanderson's Stormlight Archive and will most definitely continue with the series.
✓ Did you read alone or with partner? alone
✓ Which book format(s) did you use for your RAT? Audio, Paperback/Hardcover (DTB), or eBook OR did you use a mix of formats? paperback with a bit of audio
