I nominate the first civilian space walk which occurred on September 12. It was part of the SpaceX Polaris Dawn mission.

I also nominate the discovery of a previously unknown piece of Mozart's music on September 19.The music discovered was an unknown piece of Mozart's music found in the Leipzig Municipal Libraries. The piece, a string trio titled "Ganz kleine Nachtmusik," is believed to have been composed in the mid-to-late 1760s when Mozart was a teenager.
It was found while researchers were working on a new edition of the Köchel catalog, a definitive archive of Mozart's musical works.
This discovery is a significant event for classical music enthusiasts, as it adds to the already extensive body of Mozart's compositions.
