The book you like most discussion

hi guys!! i'm currently just starting uprooted by naomi novik. i got a little bit through it when i found out that the main character is 17, which was fine at first, until i realized that the guy she gets with is way older than her, and she's a minor. 😅

i really like everything else about the book so far (although i just started). the fantasy is nice, i love the writing style and prose, and i like the plot concept (at least right now). after my realization i did a little bit of research to see what i was getting into, and so (spoilers) there is smut between them later in the book. as far as i know, she's also supposed to be his assistant for like 10 years based on what is introduced in the beginning, so now i'm afraid i'm basically reading a romance where a young girl gets groomed and has explicit scenes with the older man. i think i'd be more 'eh whatever' if she was like, 20, but 17 is so young that it makes me feel unsure.

i'm not sure if i should keep reading or not? can anyone give me their two cents on the matter? 🥺

Hmm, I know some books will wait until the younger character turns 18. Now, there are some books that push the boundaries, so if the book makes you feel uncomfortable, there is nothing wrong with taking a break from it or just not reading it. I have read some books that make me uncomfortable too, and that is what I had to do. I hope this helps
