Austenesque Lovers TBR Pile Challenge 2024 discussion

For this month, the Group Read challenge will be two-part.

First, you will do a word association game with the below list of words/phrases by starting a new comment with the word on the left and your book picks on the right. Your book title picks are whatever book came to mind when you saw the word.

BUT... here's the trick: your book title picks must be Austenesque books that you still have to read.

Now, they don't have to actually be books on your shelf though, of course, those would be a good choice. Library or borrowed books you have on your wish list can count just so long as you can get them in time.

You need to make your book list by October 1st and leave it in the comments

To me Bingley is a minor character because we get very little of his point of view in the canon, only what is observed. Other characters have more opinions about Bingley than we hear about Bingley's opinions about anything.

I agree with Katja, Sam. I would count Mr. Bingley as a minor character, too.

Compromise could even include not just scandal, but when two people "meet in the middle" with their opinions, too. I know that's harder to find, but maybe you have something like that on your pile.

I've decided to start with Miss Georgiana and the Dragon by Maria Grace and hopefully can get to a couple of the others this month.

I think I am going to start with The Persuasion of Miss Jane Austen by Shannon Winslow. I am going to be cheeky and start it a day early as I have just finished the book I was reading.

it's already October in Australia so I started a bit early as I noticed this short story that would do for either #5 or #9. https://www.meryton.com/aha/uploads/p...

This was a very quick read with no angst, just an accidental wardrobe malfunction followed by an immediate HEA and some bedroom scenes.

I have finished my #7. Autumn - Six Inches Deep in Mud: A Pride and Prejudice variation
Did not enjoy it at all, but it's getting good reviews.

Well done Katja and Sam on such a speedy start.

I have just finished my #2 Society on audiobook.
Traces of Magic: A Pride and Prejudice Fantasy Variation by Monica Fairview.

I enjoyed it but perhaps not as much as the first two. It seemed to take a while to get going. I am however looking forward to the final one in the series which is due out in a couple of weeks.

I think I will probably read the last one as I find this narrator a little stodgy for my tastes.

The third book wasn't as good as the first 2 for me either.
I am so hoping she can knock on out of the park for the 4th and final book. Coming in about a week!

Yay, I managed to get #2 done and loved Miss Georgiana and the Dragon. I guess I'm in a supernatural mood because now I'm going for my #10.

I finished my #10 Northanger Abbey and Angels and Dragons by Vera Nazarian. It was a cozy supernatural that clung closely to Austen's original so was comfy reading, but had its slow moments. I suspect this will be my last for the challenge, but I might sneak one more in under the wire. :)

ending too. Despite his failings in this book,
he deserves it.
