AI & Chatbot: Beneficial? Useful? Or a pain in the ass?

I saw the output of a sequence of ChatGPT answers to a problem outlined by one person, and initially the answers were considered unsatisfactory by the questioner, but eventually the chat was refined to give a more satisfactory answer. How? By finding out what answer was desired, and giving it to them. It is programmed to be agreeable, and not to be critical of what it finds
I think this is extremely undesirable because it can give support to ridiculous positions and the support is labelled "authoratative" by the receiver of said information. Given enough cycles, it can give almost any answer you wish because it cannot truth check, and it sorts to give youwhat you want.

I have the same reservations Ian.
For IT illiterates like myself, I have the same problem when asking a question of an IT provider via their website. Unless you use the correct terminology you don't receive a sensible answer. If you knew and understood the terminology, I suspect you wouldn't need to ask the question. It's a Catch 22.

I believe AI will advance to the point of us using it to create a singularity, as higher advanced beings have done.
However, there are grave risks to using AI to form a singularity. Many believe God-like super AI will destroy the world. Others think it could save it.
In my novel AI BEAST, an AI singularity develops using radio-enhanced telepathy guided by AI symbiosis. But the super AI, Lex, is seen as evil and must fight for humanity without appearing to harm humans and to overcome our fear of it. It decides it must change how our minds work and think, overriding some emotions, suppressing self-destructive thoughts and behaviors, and greatly advancing our mind's information processing and storage abilities. Two main characters in my novel grapple with these issues after being transformed by the super AI, but one refuses to allow the AI to change his mind and suppress emotions due to his deep love for the mother of the other character. Of course, such a premise must involve religion as that is the basis of our understanding of what is right and wrong, good or evil.
The people in control say they want inclusion while suppressing religion and advanced reasoning. They also say they want free speech but want to control it using biased programmed AI. Here is an article about how AI is being programmed by the far left. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-6... . There are many more articles about this.
To overcome our suppressors, we need to understand how they control virtually everything and why they don't want decentralized currencies and reasoning AI that dissipates knowledge, stops fake news, deepfake videos, disinformation, misinformation, fraud, identity theft, corporate and government corruption, and much more.
-------------
From AI BEAST, Chapter Three:
“... we have artificial hormones from commercial meat and dairy products, making kids mature faster and women more muscular and aggressive. Then you have a massive soy intake, which feminizes males. Add to that endocrine disrupters like microplastics in our drinking water and many other products– Chemicals that mess with our hormone-producing thyroid glands. That’s what caused an explosion of gender-confused, intersex-born and non-binary children. But it’s not their fault. And it’s not God’s will– like the gender-reassigned pastor of the church I left said it was. It’s manmade by some pretty evil people who think they have the right to play God. It’s another attack on the family unit– advancing infertility and division."
-------------
They want us sick, depressed, divided, confused, and at war, not healthy, high-spirited, united, enlightened, and at peace. Of course, they greatly profit from the former.
They are winning. But they haven't thought this through.
They think they are creating a race to serve them. A generation of children who can't read, write, do math, are confused with their gender, have a mental illness, and can't procreate after being sterilized by medical treatments and vaccines. But lower standards and DEI programs employing scientists, programmers, politicians, police, medical workers, pilots, air traffic controllers, and nuclear power plant workers (among others) is a bad idea, and AI robots to do those jobs is a long way off. Sure, when society and infrastructures collapse the weak-minded will be the first to surrender to the government that is killing them and replacing them with migrants. But even many migrants are waking up to what is happening and leaving.
Their plan is when we have had enough, we will accept CBDCs that promise to return peace and prosperity to all. And in doing so we will empower them to impoverish anyone who opposes them.
But there is hope. The masses are waking up to what is happening and no longer believing their controlled media. Sooner or later a leader will come and bring the masses together. That is what they fear the most. So, they may soon resort to their backup plan, which is to create a catastrophe to stop the coming USA election because Trump is a wild card.
The "fictional story" AI BEAST addresses three crucial things. One, the Satan-worshiping globalists have been planning this for a very long time, thinking they will be greatly rewarded by a god that deceives most and consumes children. Two, Christians’ fear of AI and trust in government is helping the globalists take over. And three, we better have a backup plan in case the writings about our savior have already happened.
---------------
From Chapter Eleven:
“… on the first day, Lex and I talked about how fear makes people irrational. Change is never easy, but it’s the one constant condition governing the universe and everything in it. Unfortunately, humans often resist change rather than embrace it, even when it’s the best thing for them. That is why we must learn to overcome fear and irrationality using logic and sound reasoning.”
“Exactly,” James said and raised his fist.
“No fear!”
Jon gave him a disappointed look.
“That’s not what I meant, James.”
“Yeah, I know.”
Jon looked at the students.
“I believe super AI will solve many of our problems, but if improperly programmed, it could become a very dangerous thing. That is why it’s so important to get the programming right and have unbreakable rules.”

I believe AI will advance to the point of us using it to create a singularit..."
That's a clever (aka shrewd) segue Shawn from the topic at hand to your book. Well done nevertheless! Looks like an interesting book and very relevant to the topic!

I've used AI &Chatbot in my book, Gregory Bateson Variations.
https://amzn.eu/d/al55O2w
The writing (using AI) went in layers because the ideas in the book are rather new. The first layer was a sort of fact check on the theory, thinking at AI as to a library curator - someone having read and memorised all the books from a huge library. This put us, me and the machine, on the same page. I continued, without cancelling the first round, with the same questions. The book is based on short stories (provided by me) and the discussion around them (with the AI). So, the second layer was reintroducing the same short stories and put the same questions. The AI's answers now were more precise (more confident?). Third layer was me editing and forth the editor smooth everything. It was a nice experience!

"In recent years, the internet has become a battleground for the exploitation of women, fueled by the insidious rise of artificial intelligence-generated pornographic content. This alarming trend involves the creation of hyper-realistic simulations of sexual acts using AI, often facilitated by free and accessible apps that utilize deepfake technology."
That's a quote from Daily Trojan, which addresses the issue of pornography utilizing AI.
https://dailytrojan.com/2024/05/15/we...
Now I learn via a MSM report that some women are complaining that AI is generating pornography utilizing their faces without their prior knowledge or approval. Apparently, the resulting images are totally accurate, according to the aggrieved women.
The same report states that some of the women affected are students... I can only imagine the catastrophic impact this would have on them.
I fear this is just the beginning.
The question is: Where will it end?

Everyone linked through radio-enhanced telepathy guided by AI symbiosis. Privacy, intimacy, and individuality are maintained but self-destructive behaviors are suppressed, and children advance based on their maturity.
A singularity that can identify and root out all illegal images, documents, dealings, government and corporate corruption, identity theft, scams, phishing, etc.
“We’ve devised a plan, Professor. A plan that will forever alter the course of humanity. It involves creating an advanced race of humans. A physically, emotionally, and intellectually superior race filled with the finest virtues of human compassion. The kind of people capable of building a whole new world– without destroying this one first.”
“In the future, wars, pain, suffering, even death will all be a thing of the past. We will move from one body to another, overcoming death and fulfilling our ultimate desire: to achieve everlasting life. Now, Professor, I’ll ask you again. Do you think I’m insane?”

The result, received within 1.5 seconds of asking, was a VERY impressive 1-page synopsis which was 10 times better than I expected! As it was, I didn't use that synopsis, but it provided some good ideas for my story.
However, I'm aware Chatbot and AI in particular are contentious topics. I personally see more problems than solutions...and I'm an eternal optimist! For example, with future versions of Chatbot I can see authors, journalists, schoolteachers and others eventually being consigned to the ranks of the unemployed.
>>> I look forward to reading comments from Undergrounders who are more up with the play on these issues, not to mention more IT literate, than I.
