Josh Hamilton was literally having a meltdown while waiting for Sam to investigate his paternity. Did it seem at the time that he was being irrational or was his terror instructive, making you believe he had real reason to fear Troy Hamilton?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I didn't know what to think. At the time, I was wondering if Josh had some mental health issues. Or did he actually think his father would kill him after learning that Josh knew the truth?

I was at a crossroad here, too. Didn’t know anything about him and had to take him at face value. But seeing that age progression photo had me leaning toward him having reason to be frightened. I took him at his word…for now.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments This entire situation was very strange.
While Josh's terror was obviously real, it also seemed overblown. Even after finishing the book, it is excessive and I find it hard to believe his father would actually have killed him.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree with all of you. I had a hard time figuring Josh out.
