Hi!, I have question I would like to have your guys´ opinion on.
Do you guys think the enemies to lovers trope overrated?
Thank you so much if you replied! <3

Hello! I would not say it is overrated, but it is not underrated either. I think what we favor about this trope is that, the tension is so much better and intense in this trope. Like, the leads get to experience both sides, love and hate, and choose to remain lovers, which I think is beautiful!

This book was the OG enemies to lovers and I definitely do not think the trope is overrated. P&P and Austen in general established a lot of the "tropes" we seek out in literature today. P&P is not run of the mill or boring, but very deep imo.

Well, with any trope, it just depends on how well it is executed. Pride and Prejudice is definitely one of my favourite novels and is indeed the quintessential enemies to lovers story. Due to the intense and often interesting dynamic, I do not believe it will become overrated.

A little cliché I'd say. However, there's this "thrill" that comes with reading till the end.
At least to pat yourself on the back and say,
"Oh I knew what would happen all along!"
A funny tingling feeling it is really 😅
Purple hearts 💜 for Pride and Prejudice

I wouldn't say that the trope is overrated, but not overused. It just depends on the storyline and the lives of the characters In the story.

I am afraid that in the recent years It has indeed become a little overrated. The main reason behind it is that authors have seriously lost the real meaning of enemies - lovers. There characters would be falling for each other from the get go but then the authors would be adding "BaNTer" that just really does not make any sense. Like in the inner monologue these main characters would literally lusting over one another and then few seconds later they would be cursing or hating each other. I mean no,, this trope is beyond that.. Enemies to lovers would have some thrill in them. Main characters should Actually have some rivalry or bad blood between them, and by bad blood I don't mean that throw a random family rivalry plot or whatever. But, make their back story actually meaningful. Like give them a real good reason to hate each other (actually hate each other) and then subtly make their differences disappear by creating appropriate situation and atmosphere between them. Give them time to understand each other. Like make them yearn for each other. Then,, at last clear the misunderstandings between them.. That is what real enemies to lover should be like.. But, I am afraid because of booktok and tiktok stuff we have really lost the plot at this point.

I personally love it. Is it predictable and cliché? I mean...yeah, but that's sort of the point. It takes you on a journey that you're prepared for, your seatbelt is clipped and you know what's coming. That's not to say that it can't catch you by surprise. Everyone knows what to expect on a rollercoaster but they go on it for the thrill anyway. In conclusion, it's fun and messy and ignites something in the reader. But that's just one woman's opinion.

Lately....yeah. I'm kind of tired of this trope
