Linda C (libladynylindac) | 1779 comments I was looking forward to a dynamic conclusion to the series, but I found a so-so group of heroes in this book. For a girl who is supposed to be her people’s savior, it took Laia an awfully long time to get anything done. She kept getting powers but not being able to use them or getting in situations where someone else has to get her out. Yet everyone is saying Wow, she’s great. Then there’s Elias, who seems to have lost himself in this conflicted Soul Catcher and conveniently forgets his colleagues until he’s forced into acting. His parts were the most boring. And lastly, Helene, the Blood Shrike who seems to go in and out of character and is the most wounded warrior who instantly heals and is back fighting while everyone around her dies.

This all may sound harsh, but it was disappointing. The last quarter did a bit to try to salvage things but I was ready for it to end and was not invested in the characters any longer. On to something different.
