The focus genre winner for October 2024 was a tie between plain ol' "Horror" and a horror subgenre -- "Cozy Horror" -- whatever that is! :) Looking forward to seeing everyone's picks!

Lea (leaspot) | 3635 comments I'm hoping to buddy read You Love Me by Caroline Kepnes and The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy, both of which have horror as a subgenre. I'm pretty sure neither of these books will be cozy, but I think that's a fun genre idea. Too bad I already read A Love Story Series by Christopher Moore starting with Bloodsucking Fiends...that might qualify for cozy horror since it is so ridiculous. I'll keep looking for something...

This was supposed to be one of my horror selections. It wasn't really scary scary horror, just a collection of excellent short stories that kind of made you go uh huh, accompanied by uncomfortable chuckles sometimes... Tales of Gooseflesh and Laughter by John Wyndham 3.5 stars

Next in my list is The Scourge Between Stars by Ness Brown

My review of Moon of the Crusted Snow by Waubgeshig Rice 4.0 stars

It's not really horror, more dystopia, but still very scary.
