Avigail (avigailr) | 103 comments Hello from Israel, nice meeting you
As for names for our team my suggestions are:
1. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Mini-Pufts Reading Buddies
2. Casper the Reading Ghost
We don't have to pick the above names I am open for suggestions.

Stacey (boydsmom) | 557 comments Hi everyone! I saw teams were posted, I was just waiting to get home from work to come say hello. I'm terrible with names, but I like If You've Got It, Haunt It. :)

message 7: by Upton (new)

Upton | 243 comments That name works for me, kind of sassy!

message 8: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 557 comments Another team has that name option, so we have to try again. :)

I'd vote for Basic Witches. Anyone else?

message 9: by Upton (last edited Oct 02, 2024 03:54PM) (new)

Upton | 243 comments I'm okay with that.

We might need our name to get our first set of tasks.

Library Ghost:
description
The team is called to the library to investigate a ghost sighting. Wandering through the library, you notice symmetrical book stacking, ectoplasmic residue on card catalog drawers, and bookshelves falling over. Knowing you are getting close, your team continues exploring the library. As you round the corner, you see a female apparition. She is an older woman wearing a purple dress. She is reading a book and obviously thinks you guys are too loud. She shushes you. You attempt to talk to her and she scares your team away. Your team needs a plan to capture her.

Tasks (Reminder: Each of you must choose a different task)
👻Read a book with books stacked on the cover
👻Read a book with a female MC
👻Read a book with a purple cover (min 50 %)
👻Read a book where a character visits or works in a library

Don't get us started about the notifications. GR is annoying when it comes to them. Don't bother complaining, they don't care.

message 17: by Upton (new)

Upton | 243 comments I can take a look when I get home from work. But feel free to stick me with a task if everyone else is ready to go.

I feel like they work for a while, but then all of the sudden stop again. So frustrating.

Stacey (boydsmom) | 557 comments I have one that works for library which would be my first choice, but I feel like I could find a quick cozy mystery for the book stack if needed. TBH I'm struggling with the purple cover. What does anyone else have?

ETA: I found a purple one so I'll just wait to see if anyone else has a preference.

Upton | 243 comments I have a book for -
👻Read a book with a purple cover (min 50 %)
👻Read a book where a character visits or works in a library

Doesn't matter to me which I read.

Stacey - do you want to read for "Read a book where a character visits or works in a library" and I can read for the "Purple Cover"?

Avigail - do you want to read for "Read a book with books stacked on the cover"? or do you need a different task?

I will keep trying to find a book for the that last task, just in case. I found a book for this task as well. I can read for whatever is left :)

Avigail (avigailr) | 103 comments Sorry for not being active in this group. Suppose you heard the news that on October 1st, Israel was under attack by missiles from Iran. A couple of hours before the missile attack, there was a terrorist attack in Jaffa, and Hamas Terrorists murdered seven people. One of the victims is a nephew of a coworker and family friend, only 26 years old, who went to do a college assignment. His parents are well-known doctors in Israel, and his father is a worldwide neurosurgeon specializing in muscular dystrophy. The funeral is today, and the last days were tough.
From Wednesday until today, the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, is also celebrated, and it was a very sad one. Monday is one year after the Hamas terrorist attack in Southern Israel, and we still have 101 hostages who are still in Gaza without knowing if they are alive or dead or even living dead.
I'm sorry for writing a long and depressing message when this reading is meant to be a challenge for fun. I will take the stack of books as I have two books that fit the prompt.
Miss Morgan's Book Brigade by Janet Skeslien Charles or Of Literature and Lattes (Winsome #2) by Katherine Reay
Which one do you think is more appropriate?

I think we can all give you a break on being a little delayed in getting on GR last week. Stay safe.

I think the second book would be better. I saw in the Q&A that she was looking more for a flat stack than a bookshelf group.

I'm on the library task then!

Thanks, Stacey, for the kind words and understanding. I will read Of Literature and Lattes as I have it also as one of the books in one of my M&G.
I'm also letting you know that from next Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon, it is Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), during which we fast without food and water for 27 hours. So, I won't be on Goodreads, so pick the prompts you wish to, and on Saturday afternoon, once the fasting is over, I will look for a book for the remaining task. Thanks for the understanding once again.

Avigail, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. We have you covered here. Please take care of yourself and your family.

I believe the last task is the purple cover and I will read for that one.

Slimer:
description
The team is called to the hotel to investigate a ghost sighting on the 12th floor. Team member 2 sees it eating. It is a small green, slimy, see-through ghost. You try to catch him but miss and catch the wall on fire. It takes off. Team member 1 sights it in the hallway and is slimed as it runs straight through him/her. The ghost is then found in the ballroom. Your team is making quite a mess of the ballroom as it attempts to capture this ghost. There are small fires all around the room. broken furniture and food is strewn around. Don't forget that you shouldn't cross your streams! That could be very dangerous! Can you capture him or will he get away?

Tasks (Reminder: You must each choose a different task)
👻Read a book with a green cover (min 50%)
👻Read a book with fire on the cover
👻Read a book with a food item in the title
👻Read a book that starts with a letter in BALLROOM

LOL, I feel like we could make that work. But I went back and read the task again and its food in the title, not on the cover. My bad.

Avigail (avigailr) | 103 comments I am fine between sirens running to the shelter, but life continues. Yes, we are a quiet group I wondered if you are ok and if we are continuing playing. I don't mind an easygoing reading challenge, I am taking part in many reading challenges. To have everything under control I made a private group where each post is a shortcut for every reading challenge I am taking part in and where I need to post my completion post. Otherwise, I would get lost as well.
