There is a lot of action in The Hostile Hospital, book #7 in A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The children have been accused of murdering their nemesis, Count Olaf. They find themselves moving deeper into the Hinterlands to a half-built hospital and a staff more concerned with record-keeping than with care. Could the “Volunteers Fighting Disease” be the VFD they have been searching for?

The plot in this book goes much darker than in the previous books. This book is different because we don’t see count Olaf personally but experience him talking through an intercom and ordering his henchmen to do the work for him. He is still very villainous.

I absolutely loved this story. And though the children still haven’t found the true meaning of VFD, I'm confident they will in the end. I am anxious to start the next book in the series, The Carnivorous Carnival.
