Overall I liked the story and was totally shocked by the President's son being behind the threats and Peter's death.

I was almost as upset as Sam was by the way the Secret Service swooped in and picked up the whole family without telling them anything. I still don't understand why they couldn't say that there had been a threat against the family and Nick wants everyone rounded up. Sure, some of them (Sam) would have complained, but she did that anyway. Why did they have to wait till everyone was at the bunker before (a few hours later) before anyone could tell her?

And, I hated Sam's behavior about being trapped with her family in the bunker. It was so stupid of her to ask her father to pretend to be sick so they could call an ambulance and she could ride her way out of lockup.

I am of two minds with this book.
On the one hand, I enjoyed the Secret Service whisking Sam away and the investigation into Peter's murder.

On the other hand, I could do without Sam and her obnoxious self-absorption and the Avery/Shelby melodrama.

There are parts of the story that I liked a lot. However, I hate the Avery obsession with Sam. I hope this is the end of it.
