I was watching the old EWTN show, Apostle of Common Sense (about G.K. Chesterton) and there was an episode on The Ball and the Cross. I don't recall much of the episode, but I'm always struck by Professor Lucifer muttering that "everything is relative". What a devious ideology!
1. Materialism (the main head of the hydra; the proposal that the physical world is all that there is)
2. Atheism (the logical conclusion of materialism. If you never give God a thought then, practically, you're an atheist)
3. Scientism (there are no other valid forms of knowledge other than science)
4. Historicism (the truth of a philosophy is determined on the basis of its appropriateness to a certain period and a certain historical purpose)
5. Utilitarianism (what's good is what is the greatest good for the greatest number)
6. Pragmatism (do what's good in the most efficient, practical way possible - no other considerations matter)
7. Progressivism (new always means improved)
8. Utopianism (the natural outgrowth of the other hydra heads, the fulfillment of the others)
9. Relativism (you have your truth; I have mine)
10. Indifferentism (all religions are the same, nothing really is true)
11. Individualism (A proud spirit who stands alone of any authority, any truth, any reality outside his own self-referencing bubble)
12. Tribalism (a collection of individualists. This leads to brainwashing)
13. Sentimentalism (the system of decision making that one takes action only based on emotion)
14. Romanticism (no objective truth, rather only feelings matter)
15. Eroticism (sex is for fun, nothing more)
16. Freudianism (we're only a collection of impulses)
