Hi, all.

Let's do the obvious for this November and pick a book that features autumn. Mystery, thriller, ghost story, noir, cozy, hard-boiled, doesn't matter as long as the color palette shows browns, reds, oranges and yellows.

As always, authors please do not nominate your own books, and if you nominate a book and it's chosen, you become the discussion leader.

I’m sure everyone’s watched the film (shawshank redemption) but I’ve always wanted to read the book!

The book is part of Different Seasons, four novellas by King. It also includes The Body, which was the basis for the movie Stand By Me. It's a great collection but it doesn't (I don't think) qualify though maybe because it's called Different Seasons?? Dunno, and not up to me.

Judy Sheluk (wwwjudypenzshelukcom) | 209 comments I have not read it but The Berry Pickers is supposed to be really good and I believe it is set in the autumn. The Berry Pickers -- I could be wrong. I have the book on my TBR shelf so...Randy you can let us know but I'd be willing to read and moderate the discussions.

Judy, it looks like The Berry Pickers starts in July, so maybe not an autumn read. Keep it in mind for future group reads, though.

Does it take place in autumn? I don't see anything indicating that.

Hey, everyone, let's finish up nominations by October 11. After that I'll create a poll.

I'm only seeing a Nike's and CBRetriever's suggestions as having some connection to autumn. Though I suppose we could include Different Seasons, since autumn is one of those.

If I'm wrong about that, please let me know.

message 20: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 73 comments I nominated the Chestnut Man because I believe it takes place in October and throughout autumn.

I've read it and it's amazing -- one of my fave books of 2024 -- but it has nothing to do with autumn.

Again, an autumn theme. Is We Used to Live Here at all connected to Fall?

Hi, all.

I'll have the poll up soon. Just to note, I've only added books I could verify had something to do with autumn; and I have included the King collection because one story takes place in autumn.
