Tanya grew up knowing her father loved her brothers only. Almost everything she wanted or needed involved yelling or an argument.
As a child she visited the little men in the back yard for some comfort. Finishing school she left her family to study at university. Everything seemed good and she tried to forget the little men and her family. Graduating as a promising young scientist, little did she know they still tracked her life, but now interested in her scientific research.
I'm after a general view if it flows and has any flaws. You can PM me for my details if interested.

Blurb is in progress, sorry if it isn't great.
Adam, like all dragon riders, is ageless and doesn’t remember anything before he Bonded with his partner, Tapa. He chooses to board a ship traveling to the eastern islands, specifically Solar City. It was his first memory, Tapa looking into his eyes and it was the most joyous moment of his life. Leaving behind his first love, he starts his new journey looking to find his parents before they get too old.
On his flight to Solar Island, he stops at a training camp for dragon riders. Silvia, a powerful and spirited dragon rider, distracts him from his mission. The camp is woefully understaffed and doesn’t have a flight trainer. When challenged to either help or leave, he impulsively chooses to stay and help through the winter. One season shouldn’t be too long. But even after he leaves the camp behind, Silvia accompanies him, wanting as much of his time as possible. Adam wants to be with her, but he questions himself if it is right. He was a trainer at her camp, even if he wasn’t her trainer.
When he finally arrives in Solar City, the wing leader Maria is equally trying to get his full and undivided attention. In the center of a city park, there is a board where parents put up notices to see if their children have returned and it nearly breaks Adam. No posting for him, he goes numb. So numb, he doesn’t know what to do next; continue the search or rush back to his previous life.

I have a contemporary novel at 158k words.
Blurb:
One morning in a coffee shop, Alex is beside himself to meet Pete Shehann, whom it seems has some experience in the very subject of which he is a self-proclaimed enthusiast. Reluctant yet prompted, Pete shares his story, beginning with how his father abandoned him as a child in rural 1930s Oklahoma, leaving him embittered and believing himself a failure, proven time and again. And marrying May couldn’t be luck at all but a fluke, even if she has her own problems. After losing all of her family in a tragic accident, a terrible void remains, and she wants children more than anything.
An unexpected inheritance raises suspicions yet sends Pete and May to a new life in Oregon, where they meet Stevens, the attorney handling the inheritance and proving himself a faithful friend in the years to come. But a tragedy that happened on their journey haunts Pete, eventually conforming to an eerie parallel with May after her health fails following the negative results of an infertility test. It greatly disturbs Pete to discover he isn’t even enough for his own wife to want to live, but he determines to do whatever it takes to save her. And what of himself? Is he destined a lifetime of failure?

My novel is a clean mystery involving an amateur private eye with supernatural powers. This novel is complete and in its umpteenth (7th) draft and ready for fresh eyes and new perspectives.
The word count is around 85K, with 32 chapters told in the first person of the private eye. Would like the beta reads completed by the end of October, if possible.
Here’s the blurb I’m going with for now:
Children have gone missing in Metro City, and the police are all out of resources—except one. Will Jones, a Feeler, is called upon as a private consultant to the MCPD to aid them in finding the innocents before it’s too late.
Haunted by his past, uncertain of his future, Jones must reacquaint himself with his out-of-practice empath abilities before he can hope to rescue the missing in time.
If you think you would enjoy reading my novel, kindly apply as a beta reader using this link: https://ericbeaty.com/mimc-beta. I’m using StoryOrigin for my beta copies.

I’m seeking “beta readers” for my newest mystery, Revenge of the San Miguel. It’s easy, and an opportunity to help me improve my book prior to release.
Here is the link to StoryOrgin to begin the process:
https://storyoriginapp.com/betacopies...
Meanwhile, about the book itself (It's 51,800 words):
Revenge of the San Miguel is a fast-paced cozy mystery with quirky characters, witty storytelling, murders, a search for sunken gold and a harbor-side romance.
When Jake Stewart crawled out of the berth of his sailboat Monday morning, he did not know he would be in a shouting match with a bald man by the afternoon, the party to a million-dollar idea by beer o’clock and spooning the most beautiful woman in the marina after dark.
But that’s the life of a boating journalist.
Soon, a smooth-talking sexy woman is sharing a map to a sunken treasure with Jake. But recovering it will come at a cost … maybe his life.
Thanks for helping improve the book for future readers!
Hope you find this appealing,
thanks
Mike Cassidy

I am an aspiring author, and would be very grateful if you have the time to take on another project: completed fantasy novel (pending feedback) that is just under 80k words. Here's my blurb and, if interested, email me? timwilbur51@gmail.com
In a world where magic has been shattered for a thousand years, a wandering goddess searches for a way to end all existence. Trapped in mortal form with only her self-doubt for company, Aislynn seeks the fragments of an ancient bell that could silence every world forever.
Her carefully laid plans are disrupted when she encounters Wraith, a small-town hunter with mysterious abilities and eyes like shards of ice. Despite her determination to remain alone, their fates become inexorably intertwined through an arcane bonding that leaves them both changed. Together with Bellas, a merchant with a gift for uncovering truth, and William Ilwin, a farmer fleeing his family's dark legacy, they embark on a journey that will test not just their abilities, but their understanding of destiny itself.
Their path leads them through haunted ruins and necropolis realms, from a city of political intrigue to the domains of fallen dragons. As they gather the pieces needed to complete Aislynn's mission, each companion must confront their own broken nature and decide what price they're willing to pay for redemption.
But in a cosmos where magic itself has been torn away, nothing is quite what it seems. Ancient prophecies twist like serpents, memories become weapons, and fate itself can be rewoven by those desperate enough to try. As Aislynn draws closer to her goal of ending all worlds, she must decide if oblivion is truly the answer to a broken existence.
"The Nexus Chronicles: The Broken Age" is a character-driven fantasy novel that explores themes of fate versus free will, the nature of redemption, and the price of destiny. It offers readers a unique magic system, complex character relationships, and a story that rewards careful attention with deeper layers of meaning.

Birds of American Hell
Multi-genre 88.5k word cleanly edited complete contemporary fantasy novel by retired criminal defense lawyer & former JAG officer U.S. Navy. Something different. Comp Tim Powers, Philip K. Dick (not claiming that quality, just giving an idea.) Themes: relationships, regret, perils of immortality, moral degradation in war, and a jaundiced view of the Cold War to the present.
After 30 years in Hell, Major Connor Galloway, USAF (MIA) is used to weird. But when a sightseeing charter reveals a shocking past he missed, he and the volatile Romanian crew of his ancient DC-3 are drawn into the diabolically inept Conspiracy to Change Everything. The prize: a way back to the world he left if he wants it. He must first survive the might of American Hell and the hidden agendas of friends and allies. Everyone is in Hell for a reason. Our Lady of Chaos may be rolling loaded dice for Galloway, but she loves irony. A darkly satirical blend of alternate history, aviation adventure, and military thriller in an original fantasy setting.

I would love for you to read my Post-Apocalyptic Catholic Action-Adventure story (195k words).
Blurb -
It is the cusp of the end of religious freedom in the United States as the government enacts new draconian anti-religious laws, and churches of many denominations begin organizing an underground effort to fight the rising persecution.
Before they can ramp up their struggle, a mysterious and terrible enemy appears. This new threat is bent on the destruction of all mankind or its subjugation under their rule. Lukas Dubois, a recent widower and Vatican Astronomer, along with the Roman Pontiff get caught up in the events. When international leaders refuse to submit, the enemy ruthlessly attacks.
In the immediate aftermath, society swiftly crumbles and thrusts people into a new medieval age without an apparent explanation, forcing Catholic husband and father, Greg Meyer, who is also a martial artist, to engage in a fight for the survival of his family. Greg focuses his efforts on recreating a knightly order of the Catholic Church to combat the new challenges. Adapt or die is the catchphrase.
Will the creation of a new Knightly Order be the world’s only chance?

Former Chicago cop Zella Agha, burned out from her job as a homicide detective and grief-stricken after losing the love of her life in a police shooting, has packed up and moved to the California desert community Palm Springs, where her recently deceased aunt Bev had a home in a posh condo development. Zella has one goal in mind: to learn how to raise goats so she can live alone and make cheese in the high desert near Joshua Tree. But when her aunt’s best friend is murdered, Zella reluctantly agrees to help solve the case, and in doing so uncovers a conspiracy among wealthy investors to buy desert land for the water rights, which they then sell to LA for massive profits. Her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the most powerful people in any desert—those with the rights to the water. As she works to solve the mystery, Zella’s life plan is sidetracked by the return of her mother, a con artist; a handsome goat farmer; and a condo complex full of eccentric retirees.
I'd like input on a) whether the story is engaging and keeps readers turning pages, b) is the mystery revealed at a good pace or is it too easy to figure out, and c) whether the characters are compelling and you want to read more about them.
Thanks much,

My name is Victoria and I am new to the platform. I haven't come across many beta readers for children's manuscripts, but I thought I would comment and give it a try.
I have a children's ("early reader") manuscript that I'd love to have another pair of eyes on. It's fewer than 1350 words due to my reader category. I'm looking for feedback on style, pacing, dialogue, potential interest for a children's audience, etc. I know you did not specifically mention children's fiction, but maybe you know any children who would give it a read?
In any case, here is a brief synopsis:

If you're still accepting beta MSS, I have an 11K prequel novella with fae romantasy and dangerous attraction tropes. I'm typically an urban fantasy author but am dipping my toes deeper into fantasy romance with my stories.
The standalone is set to release early 2025 so I'd love to have some fresh eyes on the prequel.

the tentative blurb is:
Kit thought she’d left her sister’s world of secrets behind—until Ava’s frantic whispers start up again. Cryptic calls warn of danger, of men coming for them both. When Flint appears, Kit feels sure he’s one of them. Yet every instinct she has, from the electric thrill of his touch to the shadows in his eyes, tells her he’s something far more dangerous.
But Flint isn’t here to protect her. As a fae under orders, he’s tasked with surveilling Kit, the leverage his world holds over her sister, Ava. Kit doesn’t know this. She doesn’t know he’s supposed to be cold and distant, or that each night he spends by her side deepens his own forbidden feelings.
And by the time she discovers the truth, she may be too far gone to ever walk away with her heart—and her soul—intact.

Blurb/Excerpt: Entry 148- I still don't know how I managed it, Holy Sonom Soeht; the mind is indeed a powerful thing. My mind had already started to dissociate as the bleeder ran up to me, pinned me on the ground, and sunk his teeth into my neck. I fixed my eyes on the emerging moon as blood dripped down the back of my neck. The night lights blurred with tears but did not disappear. Not a single muscle of mine moved as he released my neck and stood up. To my shock, the bleeder spoke then as my gaze remained pinned on the sky. “It’s been quite a long time since I drew blood without a fight, and from a god woman to boot.” I heard him pick up my broken cleric chain off the ground. His foot pushed against my still frozen face as he stood over me, dangling my chain from his hand. “Such a shame that misery and naivety are not virtues,” he declared with blood still on his lips. The chain fell on the dirt beside me. As I listened to his footsteps turn and leave me, he hollered, “A word of advice, woman. If I can smell the insincerity on you, don’t you think your omniscient deity can?” I’m not sure how many minutes passed after he left, with me still paralyzed on the ground weeping.

Blurb:
In a small mountain city of St. Georgetown where historic brick buildings blend with modern cityscape, a battle of romance between two young women unfolds.
“Who could possibly be my equal when you’re a girl with wealth, status, and looks? What man could even grab my attention when all men are beneath me?” These are the beliefs of Marianna, a billion-dollar heiress who wears the mask of an elegant and kind person in public, while hiding how highly she thinks of herself above others.
“My long time crush just asked for my number?! He doesn’t even recognize me after I reinvented myself. What if I tell him we actually met before?!” Samantha considered herself the stereotypical geeky girl who truly bloomed only the previous summer, now interacts with the crush she had admired from afar.
The two women find themselves involved with Nolen, a seemingly normal and average guy, in almost every way on the surface. The more Marianna and Samantha learn about Nolen, the more they feel him being “Normal” might be just a facade. As bodies are found from a vicious animal attack, a dark shadow looms over St. Georgestown interrupting their quaint, mundane lives.

Mine is 75K long. I’m unsure of its category, a romance novel. An elderly Englishman interested in military history visits Volgograd (Stalingrad) to see the battle sites. He is only interested in the sites, but his guide insists on showing him Russian culture. He is exposed to Russian culture and develops a taste for it. He is also a man who avoids women but develops a taste for his guide. There is much discussion of life in Russia compared to the Soviet Union.

The Island of Monsters and Men - 95,000 Words
Daniel Baines never made it to war. Injured by an IED before deployment, he’s left with a body that won’t cooperate and a mind full of what-ifs. When he wakes up after a plane crash on a mysterious island, he assumes it’s a second chance. But the island isn’t paradise—it’s a proving ground.
Run by the brilliant and cold-blooded Dr. Octavius Montgomery, the island is home to a new breed of humanity—genetically engineered “successes” and discarded “failures.” Everyone has a purpose, or they’re removed. As Baines is pulled deeper into Montgomery’s web, he discovers a rebel faction in the tunnels below—the Wolves—survivors who’ve turned brutal in their fight for freedom. But nothing on the island is simple. Not the rules. Not the alliances. And certainly not the man Baines is
becoming.
Torn between loyalty and survival, between who he was and what the island demands, Baines must decide: will he become a monster to escape, or was he one all along?
The Island of Monsters and Men is a dark psychological thriller that explores the limits of control, the price of progress, and the monsters we carry inside.

The explosion that killed them shattered two families. Matt was left an orphan. Sofia Moretti, Antonio’s daughter, was left without a mother.
From eighteen, Matt had been forged into a weapon inside the U.S. military’s elite special operations. When the CIA offered him an off-the-books mission to infiltrate Moretti’s fentanyl empire spanning the globe—he didn’t hesitate. This was the path to justice… or vengeance.
But Sofia complicates everything. Beautiful, intelligent, and unaware of her father’s criminal world, she may be Matt’s way in—or the only person who can undo him.

My name is Mallory, and I have a manuscript called The Asylum (The Hollow Code Book 1). I am looking for a beta reader to critique it. I am new to writing and would really appreciate if someone gave it a once-over and gave me some good feedback. I saw your advertisement on the "Beta Reader Group" page. I would describe my book as Horror/Thriller, LGBTQ, action, and Sci-Fi that takes place inside a video game. Here is my blurb:
Tyler Adams thought his life couldn’t get any duller—working the night shift as a security guard, half-asleep and half-alive. That changes the night he discovers a strange survival horror game that feels too real, its rules twisting around him like a trap.
Inside the game, there are no weapons. No way to fight back. Only one grim choice: run, hide, or die.
As Tyler stumbles deeper into the nightmare, he encounters others who’ve been pulled in, each battling their own demons within the game’s shifting corridors. But shadowy figures lurk behind every door—villains who are more than just coded enemies, and whose origins might be rooted in something far darker than pixels and programming.
The Hollow Code feeds on fear. It reshapes itself around Tyler’s memories, regrets, and secrets. And once you enter… escape is never guaranteed.
Perfect for fans of psychological horror and survival thrillers, The Hollow Code blurs the line between game and reality—where every step forward could be the last.
I am still editing it, but as of right now, the manuscript is ~89K words. Please let me know if you are interested in beta reading it.
I look forward to your response.

I'm looking for a beta reader for the opening passage of my literary novel titled Afterglow King. It's 1200 words long. Here is the summary:
In a quiet coffee shop in Albany, Oregon, elderly Pete Shehann crosses paths with Alex, a younger stranger whose curiosity is piqued by something Pete says. A shared table, a spilled coffee, and a familiar book set the stage for a growing connection between them. Despite Pete’s reluctance, Alex’s quiet persistence and genuine interest draw him in. As they talk, something about Alex—and the moment—makes Pete reconsider his long-held silence. What begins as a casual exchange gradually becomes the opening to a much deeper story.
I currently have availability as a beta reader. My favorite genres are thriller, suspense, mystery, and anything that falls into those categories. In addition, I enjoy contemporary fiction, non-fiction (WWII, true crime, etc.), fantasy, romance, and more.
I have been an avid reader all my life and would love the opportunity to be of help to any author wishing for feedback.
To give you a better idea as to what I typically read, some of my favorite authors are: Freida McFadden, Harlan Coben, Kendra Elliot, Loreth Ann White, James Patterson, Colleen Hoover, Catherine Ryan Hyde, Melinda Leigh, Olivia Hawker, SJM, Rebecca Yarros , Ann Rule, and the list goes on and on!
Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.
