Hey! I am new to Goodreads so I am trying to figure this out as I go LOL.
I am a new author and just published my first book “The Love of an Enemy”. It is an action-driven, fantasy, romance. Here is a quick summary:

What lengths would you go to in order to protect those you love?

Anissa possesses rare and powerful Yugon blood, because of this, there are those who seek her blood. Specifically, the immoral and corrupt King Sparrow has sent a skilled and trained hunter named Jack to track her down and bring her to him. However, Jack does not yet realize the lengths to which the King will go to acquire her blood and create an army of the undead. Jack finds that he has more in common with Anissa than he once thought, and they slowly start to fall for one another.
Will he keep his word and bring her to the King, even if it is against his better judgement?

I wanted to create complex characters. The main female character is strong, and brave, but also makes mistakes, questions her morals, and has self doubts. I find the most intriguing types of characters are those with faults, they aren’t perfect.

I wanted to create a world you could escape into, something that had adventure, thrill, where you could connect with the characters, and be on the edge of you seat.

I would like to recommend Nekomancers: Soul Purrtectors. It is dark historical fiction. It explores themes such as mental illness, abuse, violence in a cathartic manner. The premise is that the gods of ancient mythologies are actually cats (and dogs and birds) that have protected humans over the centuries from an evil force of darkness. The content is a bit dark but clean - no cursing, no sex, no drug references. There is some violence, but no unnecessary gore. I was comfortable to let my 12 year old niece read it

I know! They are not as dark as German or Russian folktales. At least, the stories in the collection I read as a child were mostly lighthearted and humorous.
