- make a playlist to imagine how the story will flow
- observe how other books start
- think! You wanna capture people’s attention, and the first chapter is pivotal to that, so how do you get them hooked?
That’s all I got, I’m not a writer so I don’t know much but good luck <3

Jada (semi study hiatus) Brainstorm your theme and endgame to the story.

I would get all of your ideas down somewhere—they don’t have to be perfect or edited at all, but my usual process is just compiling a bunch of scenes and figuring out how they connect to each other. Think about your genre, like what usual tropes can be found and what readers tend to like, if you want to focus on world building or romance, any subplots, etc. Some people are more of plotters and other people are pantsers. Definitely think about your characters and try to flesh them out as best as you can. Maybe think about using a writing program, looking on Pinterest (not the most productive, I know) for writing tips/memes, making a playlist or a mood board for fun, or listening to a writing podcast, just to make the experience more fun. Write a little every day, maybe think of some schedule that’ll work. Don’t be afraid of bad first drafts, and definitely read the genre you want to write! Are you a beginner writer? Just wondering because I am :)

Noell (noannabrown) | 8 comments This is something I still struggle with, but just write everything out. you can edit and iron out the kinks later. I have also found out outlining and also maybe writing out character bios on note cards is very helpful too. and I agree with Camilla, a playlist always helps too

Cassie (weekend hiatus) | 89 comments @brook @noell yeah I personally think that's the best thing to do: just write it and fix everything later. but if you tend to be an organized type of person, you could plan it out beforehand. but it's just up to your style.
but my best piece of advice is JUST WRITE IT!! <3 best of luck!!

brook b | 4 comments awww thank you all for tips! Y'all are so positive <3! yes, I've had an idea for a while now, and I have written plays/books before, but I'm stuck right now, and I feel like everything I write is cringe. Thank you so so so much, and I will use your tips! <3

Sekido (pickmance) I'm more writing stuff to improve your writing skills
something that might help is actully reading a lot of other peoples books and see flaws and what traits authors have in their writing so you can notice and have your quirks !

another thing that would help is quick writing everyday a scenario/promt so you can get a grasp on your characters

and plan ahead you want to write down abase of what's going to ha;ppen in each chapter and how its going to connect
