36. A book with a common household object on the cover
date
newest »

So this year I plan to read them both. One will fit here, and one in A, T,Y object on the cover, both for the same reason (armchair).
We'll see if reading them both helps distinguish them or just confuses me more!

However, if I see a clearer cover, I may well swap.

The Leopard - Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa (chair)
The Soul of Lilith - Marie Corelli (hairbrush)

A Line to Kill by Anthony Horowitz.

My Family and Other Animals
The Full Cupboard of Life

Teakettle & Salt shaker -

Telephone -

Clothespin -

Cup/saucer - (if you do the audio)

Candlesticks -

"Sword... isn't sword a common household object? What about cats?"

The London Séance Society by Sarah Penner, Candle or a picture frame

I picked this one up because I really enjoyed the author's Magpie Murders, which I picked up last year for the cozy mystery category, not expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised. While I did enjoy this one too, I didn't like the quirk of "author as narrator" here as much as I liked editor Susan Ryland in Magpie. My full review can be found here.

"Sword... isn't sword a common household object? What about cats?""
LOL! I was just going through my books, and I realized I have A LOT of books with swords on the cover! :)
I also have Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire - my version has a broom on the front.
I also have Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil by Hannah Arendt - my version has a picture of him with headphones on.

Since there's a broom on the cover of The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, I'm going to count it for this prompt. (There are also books on the cover, which I think for most of us count as very common household objects!)

LOL - yes - I think in this group that is a VERY common household object! :)

There's a table and tablecloth on the cover.

@Samantha -
I had a couple false starts with Margo too. I don’t know why. The third try was a charm and I loved it.
I like your short story approach. They are perfect for me too when I just can’t get into a book. It’s like a snack or an “amuse-bouche.”

@Sam..."
Nancy, Your amuse-bouche analogy for short stories is perfect! I am also happy to hear you enjoyed Margo after your first go. I think there is potential but that wasn’t the time for it.

Set in 1912 Milwaukie WI, a young female news reporter finds herself caught up in a murder investigation. Great characters. First in a series.
