Play Book Tag discussion

I can’t believe I never heard of this book until a couple years ago when people were reading it for a game prompt. It is intended for middle grade readers but I liked it too.

This is a charming story about a group of 16 people who were selected to live in a nice apartment building (for a discounted price I imagine). Residents start to notice smoke from the chimney of the Westing House nearby. Samuel Westing, a millionaire has returned to town, but he is soon found dead in his bed. The 16 residents of the building are all invited to the reading of the will. In his will, Westing claims that he has been murdered and one of them is the murderer. They are divided into 8 groups, and all given clues, and money . He wants them to figure out who did it, and the winner (s) will inherit his large fortune.

It’s a crazy story, but it’s quite entertaining. The pairs gradually get to know one another, and we learn some of their back stories along the way. A few of them knew Westing many years ago. This is a fun, heart warming mystery with some danger and humor.
