James Mustich's 1000 Books to Read Before You Die discussion

Read this one already but it would be worth a second read. Would love to know your thoughts on this!!

Have any of you had a chance to get through it? I thought I would post a couple questions to spark some conversation:

1) The title comes from a line in William Butler Yeats' poem, The Second Coming. How does the line apply to the breakdown of African society in the novel?

2) What is the primary purpose of the story? Do you think the author succeeded in achieving his goal?
