In order to survive, Hugo steals food and parts from the toy maker, and he spend his spare time trying to repair the automaton which is the only thing Hugo has left from his father. The story itself was very simple, and this book is clearly aimed at children. There were some really lovely illustrations in the copy that I read, and I liked seeing how the illustrations added to the story.
