It’s time for the next Monthly Reading Wrap Up! Even if this one is a little late this month, haha.
This Month I Read…

White Bird by R.J. Palacio- I absolutely loved this one. This book tells the story of Sara, who is the grandmother of Julien from the book Wonder by the same author. It’s a beautifully illustrated and written graphic novel. Like any Holocaust story it’s going to be hard to read, but all of these stories are always worth reading. It’s not a true story but based around true events. I really really loved this story. I also loved the added bits of history in the back as well. Highly recommend this one.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas- This one was much better than the last one in the series. The plot felt like it moved smoother and I loved the deeper look into Celeana and who she was before the start of the series. I really enjoyed the introduction of Lysandra as a character and I’m excited to see where she goes. I will say while I understand somewhat why Aelin is upset with Chaol I really wanted to see them work together better in this story. Also, I may still be team Chaol. Haha.

Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Torzs- I really liked this one. It started out a little slow but still kept me interested enough, but the second half really took off. This is technically magical realism as it is very clearly set in a contemporary world like the one we live in, but the world building was fantasy level. This was probably my favorite part of this book. The world of magic and spell books Torz created was fascinating and I loved learning about it. I don’t think the author has plans for a sequel but I would love to dive in more.
