Sheri | 9 comments 49. The Lost Plot Genevieve Cogman I am enjoying these stories. Again, the world-building is excellent. The stories are exciting, and the bantar, including Irene's internal dialog, is great.
50. The Eagle and the Raven James A. Michener
Well, I learned some things I didn't know about both Santa Ana and Sam Houston. Some say Michner shows a preference for Houston, and maybe in the summary he does, but in the body of the book I felt he told us a lot about the faults of both men, and some of the strengths.
51. Into the Darkness Barbara Michaels Not her best. The good points were that it wasn't too spooky, the author kept us wondering about what had happened to Meg's dad, and the jewelry descriptions were interesting. But something was lacking.
52. Ruins of Bone Sarah Chislon
Great world building and great development of old characters and introduction of new ones.
53. The Mortal Word Genevieve Cogman Again, Irene and Kai and their friends save the day without upsetting either Fae or Dragons too much.
54. Amish Vampires in Space Kerry Nietz Despite the title, this is really a sci-fi story, not a farce. The author provides a fairly plausible reason for the Amish to be on a spaceship in the first place, although it does cause consternation within their community. And when a failed science experiment involving genetic engineering is being transported in stasis on the same ship, and a petty thief among the crew goes theiving in the wrong place...
55. The Secret Chapter Genevieve Cogman We learn a bit more about the history of dragons, and get a heist story in this entry in the series.
56. The Twelve Justin Cronin It took me a while to get oriented again, since it has been a year or so since I read the first book. X-ray on the Kindle helped, too. But it is a good story.

Sheri | 9 comments 57. Parker Pyne Investigates Agatha Christie The first stories were interesting enough, but a bit different than usual Agatha Christie stories. I enjoyed the second half of the book more, and the last story had a great twist.
58. The Dark Archive Genevieve Cogman The next to the last in the series...and I don't own the next one yet!
59. Heaven Randy Alcorn Good, seems pretty well grounded, a little repeative in places, certainly inspiring.
60. The City of Mirrors Justin Cronin This was a little different than the first two, in giving the extended background story of Zero, but I liked it, and I thought the ending was fitting.
61. Death at La Fenice Donna Leon A good solid, not at all simplistic entry to a new-for-me series--and it's a good thing I liked it, because I have picked up almost the entire series on sale.
62. The Library Fuzz MEGAPACK ®: The Complete Hal Johnson Series James Holding A little unbelievable that an ex-cop turned library fine collectors would run into so much actual crime on his job, but entertaining nonethe less.
63. A Heart as Red as Paint Jennifer Kropf A sequel to a book I read last year, and I am eager to read the next book. However, it is very Christmasy, and maybe I will save it for a Christmas in July read at this point.
64. Medic On The Move Tom Smith The last of the trilogy, it was a bit shorter but still had some interesting and entertaining stories.
65. The Christmas Watch Erynn Mangum I finished this book during the last hour of 2024. A short, sappy Christmas sweet romance story--about the only time of the year read something like this. I know I could have posted these last five on the next mountain, but I think I'm just going to leave them here.
