Getting the post out on time this week. With next Thursday being US Thanksgiving, I'm not sure if I'll have the chance to post or not. We're traveling cross country (ugh). We tried to arrange it to not be with the masses of people flying so we'll over-stay our welcome at our son's house.
I hope everyone who is celebrating has a wonderful long weekend.
This week I finished Grave Talk. It was a Amazon first read choice. I enjoyed it pretty well. It is about two strangers who happen to meet at a cemetery when their respective family members are buried next to each other. The man and woman strike up an annual friendship. Mostly I liked it. One minor thing is that it just was far too long for the woman to "move on" from her husband's death (over a decade).
I started reading I Think We've Been Here Before another Amazon first read. It is interesting so far. Something "weird" is happening but I'm not far enough in to understand what or its effects.
I paused listening to We Solve Murders because that is the Jan neighborhood book club book (too many people couldn't get it for Nov).
Instead I'm listening to the Dec neighborhood book, The Frozen River. So far I'm enjoying it. It is giving me a bit of North Woods vibes. Not sure if that is just because of the setting in New England.
QOTW: We only have a few weeks left in the year. How is everyone doing on their challenges or goals for the year?
For me, next year, my GR number-of-books challenge needs to be much higher. Since I've taken to listening to the Amazon collections of short stories and GR counts those as finished books I've blown my 2024 number by so many 45 minute audiobooks.
I did not keep track on the Book Nerds spreadsheet this year. Last year I got tired of filling it out. Maybe next year I'll just post in the FB group about what categories a book fits. That would be more engaging.
