Arrows of Fortune Reading Game: Q&A
Duration: December 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025

Ask your questions about the game, tasks, etc here! As a reminder...

🎲 How to Play:
Spin and Move: "Roll" the dice and move forward based on your roll.
Watch for Arrows! 🚀 Climb higher up the board! 😱 Slide back down and regroup!
Reading Tasks: Complete reading tasks based on where you land on the board.
Arrow Spaces: If you land on an Arrow Space, you must complete BOTH tasks associated with that space. ⬆️ Arrows will maximize your score, since you'll get points for BOTH spaces, but ⬇️ Arrows will earn you negative points (only the space you landed on, not where you ended up after sliding down).
Winning: Reach space 100 (or February 28th)! The player with the most points at the end wins!

Yes - I forgot to add it to the template sheet, and I just finished adding a quick link to each sheet: https://rolladie.net/

message 6: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2150 comments The "teams" are playing against each other, yes? So, are there rules about having both team members finishing a roll before either can roll again? Or is that up to the team?

Please wait to roll until the game begins!

Jenny wrote: "The "teams" are playing against each other, yes? So, are there rules about having both team members finishing a roll before either can roll again? Or is that up to the team?"

Play the game just as you would in real life. We have plenty of time in the game, so wait to start your turn until your partner has read their book.

And as I forsee this question next as a natural next thought, there is no book banking allowed, BUT you may use a book you were reading prior to your turn, if it so happens to work when your turn comes up. If you finish it before you roll though, it's not useable.

ALSO!!! Purple goes first - the names were randomized for who goes first and second

I did catch a mix-up on one sheet - so if the colors on your "SCORE" columns don't match your names on the drop-down, please let me know and I will fix it.

you can do everything in your SS, but post in your thread when you complete your turn, so your partner knows they can start!

Unfortunately, you have to do it in a web browser! GR is awful for the phone/app.

If you're doing the audio/ebook version, it's acceptable to use any book with a yellow spine. Maybe check google to confirm?

Happily, I found an image that includes the spine (which is yellow) with the NYT book review.

Thanks!

Does our starting space ("1") count as a start or as one of the spaces we count as we make our move.

I rolled a 4 -- do I land on 4 or 5?

1 counts, so you're on 4

Read a book with a cover that gradients from one color to another.

message 25: by Ashley, The Tipsy Challenger (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 5625 comments Mod
Basically it fades from one color to another. So maybe it's purple at the top, and fades to blue at the bottom

I landed on space 9, which is an arrow up to space 34. If I am reading this right, I have to read a book for space 9 & a book for space 34. Is that correct?

It doesn't matter, they just both have to be completed before the next turn.
