Voting can begin. You get to vote for 4 books. The winners will be the top 3 vote getters. The 4th book will be chosen by randomizer from all the books that received at least one vote, excluding previous books that have been read twice previously. Winners will be announced on December 2nd. Votes are weighted so be sure to post in most desired to least,

Here are the books that were nominated. You can place your votes in this thread. We will not do a secret ballot for this voting. Voting from 11/25 through 12/1, Winner announced 12/2/2024.

We have several times and just a few days before winners are annonunced. I think I didn't mention that votes are weighted. If you want to adjust your lists, please feel free to do so. I will recheck before announcing winners.

Looks like we have some great quarterly reads for 2025. I look forward to reading the Three Musketeers.

message 23: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 717 comments I've read all of those, but I have The Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil which was an annual read just before I joined, so I think I will read that over this year.

message 24: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) | 5131 comments Mod
I’ve read 2 of the 4 (Musketeers and Idiot) and so I will be able to concentrate on other books like maybe the annual.

message 25: by Hilde (new)

Hilde (hilded) | 376 comments Great, I will try to join in on at least The Idiot

message 26: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Dawn | 1679 comments Happy that V. snuck in there and will be reading that one :)

message 27: by Pamela (new)

Pamela (bibliohound) | 592 comments I’ve read the first 3, I’d like to reread Daniel Deronda and will probably join in for V

I've read all of them but Daniel Deronda. In a way, it's a blessing: this year, I've had Joseph plus all four quarterlies; this had a big impact on the number of books I've managed to read this year. Who knows, next year with only an interesting annual and one quarterly, I might catch up a bit and read more than my usual 40.

message 29: by Gail (new)

Gail (gailifer) | 2174 comments I voted for two out of the four so I can't complain, and I actually have not read any of the four winners so I have a full year ahead of me.

message 30: by Jane (new)

Jane | 369 comments Can I ask how the votes are weighted? Is it 4 points for first pick, 3 points for 2nd, and so on? Just curious.

Yes

message 32: by Jenna (new)

Jenna | 185 comments I’m with Gail having voted for 2, so looking forward to second half. I read the idiot years ago and not the new translation, so I’m considering a reread. I’ve been listening to Juliette Stevenson read Daniel Deronda recently - I fell in love with her reading Middlemarch earlier this year and this is also excellent, if anyone else is looking at audiobooks when the time comes.

message 33: by Jane (new)

Jane | 369 comments I am sold on that recommendation. I just listened to Stevenson reading the new Richard Osman book, We Solve Murders. She was amazing and the book was great.

You can't go wrong with Juliette Stevenson. I have some other favorites too.

George P. | 726 comments I've read The Idiot a couple of years ago and just finished The Three Musketeers, but I will plan on "2nd Quarter: Daniel Deronda". I will look for that audiobook.
I don't know yet about reading V in 4th qtr.
By the way, I couldnt get to our group page earlier today though other goodreads pages loaded ok. Glad it is working now.

That's interesting. I wonder why that would be. Glad it is working now.

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) | 555 comments The only 2025 Quarterly read I need to read is V. I'll have to watch for a copy before quarter 4 so I can join that one.
