Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments You might ask: Liander, why don't you just choose a more achievable mountain? Good question. As always, I believe that next year will be the year that I finally make a dent in my TBR pile. So here we go again!

Sub-goal #1: Read one 500+ page book off my TBR each quarter.
Winter: none :( (but I did reread Eragon in preparation for some long sequels!)
Spring: none :(
Summer:
Autumn:

Sub-goal #2: Read one non-fiction book off my TBR each quarter.
Winter: none :(
Spring: none :(
Summer:
Autumn:

Sub-goal #3: Knock some of the oldest books off my TBR. I've been on Goodreads since 2009, and when I joined I added my whole collection as of that time, so a huge chunk of my TBR list is from that year.
2009 TBR at start of year: 297
2009 TBR at end of year:

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments 1. Leech by Hiron Ennes Leech by Hiron Ennes (bought in October 2024)

Well that took me about two weeks longer than I expected lol. I started this on January 1st, intending to go to a book club meeting discussing it, but didn't finish it in time. Then I got into a bit of a slump that was less a reading slump and more a lack of energy that led to me only reading half a page at a time. Anyway, my ascent up Mount TBR has finally begun!

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments 2. You Can't Scare Me! (Goosebumps #15) by R.L. Stine You Can't Scare Me! (Goosebumps #15) by R.L. Stine (owned since childhood)

There is an episode of the 90s TV series based on this one, but I have almost no memory of it! I have all the episodes on VHS tapes (my dad taped them all for me) but I used to always start at the beginning of a tape, and wouldn't always finish it, so I watched some episodes a lot more than others. I bet this one's at the end of a tape! Anyway, this one was just OK. It would have been better if the monsters were in the story for more than the last few pages!

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments So, remember that book suggestion box I set up at work? Where kids get to suggest books for me to read and I read whatever I pull out of the box? Well, yesterday I pulled Eragon. *laughs nervously* I was actually planning to read that series soon anyway (the first one is a reread), but I had actually already planned my next few TBR reads and this sort of threw a wrench in that, lol! Hopefully it's a quicker read than most 500+ page books are for me. At least this sets me up to knock a few of those 700+ page books off my list!

It was actually the fourth slip I pulled from the box. The first had some nonsense written on it, the second said "a Fortnite book" (we don't actually have any Fortnite books), and the third was Baby-Sitters Little Sister. The first book of that series was out so I put it on hold and tried again. And that's how I ended up here lol.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments I guess because I've been failing so hard at this challenge, I forgot to even come here to do the monthly updates lol. Anyway these'll be quick because I didn't start actually buying books until today. XD

Wow, thrilling content, I know. Anyway I just hit the Friends of the Library Book Sale and bought myself 9 books, so the April update will be a little more interesting lol. I will DEFINITELY FOR SURE finish Eragon this month and also there's a read-a-thon!! So I will actually have something to post about!!

I promise lol I've just been reading a long library book. I waited for ages to get An Academy for Liars so I gotta focus on that (it's already overdue) but I'm almost done!

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments Finally, a little bit of progress! Thanks to Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon, I read these TBR books:

3. The Absolute (Animorphs, #51) by K.A. Applegate The Absolute (Animorphs #51) by K.A. Applegate (bought in May 2010)

4. The Ghost Comes Calling by Betty Ren Wright The Ghost Comes Calling by Betty Ren Wright (bought in September 2024)

5. Monsters Don't Scuba Dive (The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids #14) by Debbie Dadey Monsters Don't Scuba Dive (Bailey School Kids #14) by Debbie Dadey and Marcia Thornton Jones (owned since childhood, reread)

6. Straight by Chuck Tingle Straight by Chuck Tingle (bought in September 2024)

And I started one more that I just haven't quite finished yet!

Oh man, my April summary is gonna be nuts, because I also bought SO MANY books this month.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments 7. One Day at Horrorland (Goosebumps #16) by R.L. Stine One Day at Horrorland (Goosebumps #16) by R.L. Stine (owned since childhood)

Finished this last night, so I managed to squeeze one more TBR book into April! Monthly summary coming tonight.

Soooooo, that happened lol. In my defense, two really good sales happened in the same month!! The first nine books are from the Friends of the Library book sale, which I went to for the first time since Covid, and which has such good deals and such good quality books!! Then I mentioned not having read A Handmaid's Tale and a coworker gave me her copy she was gonna donate. Then the Children's Hospital Book Market happened. Basically I can't be held responsible for this list!

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 19 comments 8. Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle #1) by Christopher Paolini Eragon (Inheritance Cycle #1) by Christopher Paolini (owned since high school, reread)

I finally finished!! This took me four months (albeit with one month of not reading it because I was focused on a library book). I have words for all the people who've told me I should read the Inheritance Cycle to easily knock some long books off my TBR lmao.
