It's time to finish the year with some relaxing reading choices.
The genres are any type of classic and any type of short stories, including fairy tales and holiday stories.
Happy reading everyone!

I've just finished a collection of short stories called The Girl From The Marsh Croft by Selma Lagerlöf. They were of various lengths. The title story was the longest and my favourite.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Not *quite* short stories, but more a collection of essays written by Jimmy Carter and looking back at Christmas celebrations throughout his life - finished Christmas in Plains: Memories

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Finished Cut and Thirst - a short story that I got through First Reads. The writing was fine but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. At least it was free.

I read this a few years ago. I liked it.

Free is good!

Brenda | 448 comments I finished Mistletoe Murders 3. If you like immersive audio and cozy mysteries, these short series are for you. Each season has three short stories centered around Emily Lane and her Christmas themed store.

I finished the children's book, The Wind on the Moon by Eric Linklater. It was a really fun read!

Mika Post | 4 comments I just read a short story a friend cut out of a magazine for me. It feels very surreal, as I cannot find any record of it on the internet. It is Words and Silence by Yoko Ogawa, apparently written on behalf of Hermes? It was a surreal read in addition to its surreal origins. A writer who writes with baking letter cookies.

Wow! I wonder if she makes cookies too?

She (the main character) makes cookies in the shape of letters that then become stories/books. They are edible.

Which did you like better, Cindy?

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Probably Brave New World. But it’s close. The visionary nature of the book was pretty good at 90+ years. Postman is a gritty book and sort of sad.

I haven't read Brave New World for a while. I liked it the first time I read it.

message 20: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 448 comments I finished a reread of Pride and Prejudice and also read the novella All I Want for Christmas.
