Good to know! I started it and have vacillated but I'm not very far, uet

@Angela, that’s why I said it. It’s not your standard YA that jumps right into the action. I didn’t want people to give up.🤭

I am almost halfway now, and while it has somber tones, it is a good story.

I finished Calor and started the next book, Lumen, right away. Now I am almost done that too. The books are really good, you guys. The 2nd book brings in Christian elements whereas they are barely hinted at in the first. And what’s best is that the last book comes out on the 10th!🤩

Well I got it, but my sister took it from me because I’m in the middle of another book and won’t start it yet. So she took it and now I have to wait for her copy. 🙄 It’s like it’s logical or something. 😤😂

Oh no! How far are you? It only took me a few chapters. It isn't a fast-paced read, but I was drawn in by the characters' plight and their personalities.

I am mid chapter 3 and yeah its starting to pick up ☺️ it kind of wanders and is in an awkward pace of not giving enough setting and some details giving mixed impressions but I think I've got a grip on it now.
Personal pet peve: CPR in any fantasy novel 😂 completely annihilates my ability to suspend disbelief. But I got through it!

@Ellie my mom and I used to do that!! Hope you get your own (another?) copy soon!

@Angela, yes, I agree with you on the setting.🙂‍↕️ I felt that was lacking some. However, now that I am in the third book, I realize there may have been a reason for her holding back in the first book. And yes, the CPR threw me off at first too.🤭

In a way, these books remind me of The Ravenwood books by Morgan Busse.

I've had this book sitting on my "maybe" shelf for a little while so I decided to nominate it (the cover looked so very much like December and winter 😀). Not sure if I'll be able to get to it this month, but after reading your review, I'm definitely going to make it a priority for the near future.

BnC—it’s quite good! The three books are really one story, though, so be prepared for that. And each book improves on the last.

Taz, they may not be as tightly written as the Ravenwood books, but my enjoyment of them is just as high. I am at the end of the last book, and I can hardly put it down. The Christian elements are amazing, and I adore the characters. (Christian elements aren’t introduced until the 2nd book.)

I'm so sorry friends, I just couldn't get into it. I returned it to the library after getting about 30% of the way through. Maybe the writing style didn't click for me?

Took me a bit to fully dive into Calor, but once I got into it I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve already borrowed the second book because I’m invested now and I really want to see what happens next.
