Nice list, Patricia! I have quite a few of these series on my TBR already. Thank Goodness. I actually want to start the Walt Longmire series, but feel like I need to be in the mood for it. Mmm

Good luck and happy reading!! 😁

message 3: by Linette (new)

Linette | 172 comments I'm reading TEN of these series. :o
I see we both love a good historical mystery.
So much great reading ahead of you! I wish I could read Shardlake for the first time again. The Oxford Time Travel series is a favourite too. Armand Gamache is someone I would love to meet in real life.
Happy reading!

Patricia | 1136 comments Thanks, everyone! I'm enjoying my series reads!

message 6: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2122 comments Great list! I've only read the #1 and #2 on it, and enjoyed them both; for me, The Story of the Lost Child was the best in that series. A few other books (or other book in those series) are on my list too. Good luck and happy reading!

Lea (leaspot) | 3629 comments Haha! I love that you're thinking about flipping a coin for your last book!

You're ahead of me in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series, and I haven't started Hawthorn & Horowitz, even though I own several of those books.

The only book I've read is Lionheart, which I really loved.

Happy reading!

Some series I've been enjoying as well, in your list. You've made great progress on Gamache and Jackson Brodie. I need to make more headway. Enjoy!

And, of course, I could have picked several others besides those particular 2! Glad you enjoyed Lionheart. Looking forward to continuing the series. I love Anthony Horowitz, so hope you get to that series soon!
Happy Reading!

Good to hear, Bonnie! I've enjoyed all the books so far. I should get to them faster.
I loved To Say Nothing of the Dog so much & am hoping All Clear will be half as good.

Lillie | 1681 comments Great list! But now I'm scared of looking up the series I haven't read because I know I'll add them to my list.

Good luck :)

Patricia | 1136 comments Finished my second book: Close to Death, the 5th in the Hawthorne & Horowitz series. I always enjoy the twisty way Horowitz writes his plots. Maybe not my favorite but still good. 4 stars

message 27: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1136 comments Book #3: The Story of the Lost Child. 4 stars
After reading one of these a year for the last four years, it will strange not to hear more from these characters. However, I do plan to read more of Ferrante's books.

message 28: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1136 comments Book #4: The Last Word. The 4th in the Harbinder Kaur series. Characters brought back from the second book, so if you enjoyed that, you will be glad to see them again as once again they find themselves with a murder to solve. 4 stars

Just looked this series up (I told myself I don't need anymore series! but did it anyway), and it looks like one I'll have add to my series page.

It's been a really good series and most people seem to think it continues to hold up. Glad I still have some to read. Hope you enjoy them as well!

message 34: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1136 comments Finished The Vanished Days, the third in a rather upside down series. The events in this book take place before the ones in the first book. So, read them in whatever order you desire and know you will find yourself in Scotland a few hundred years ago where being on the 'wrong side' can get you killed. Unfortunately, the wrong side changes with frequency. Anyway, I enjoy her books. Historical fiction with suspense, romance, and sometimes a bit of magic. (Though not in this one.)

message 35: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1136 comments My sixth book: The Labyrinth of the Spirits. This was difficult for me at times. Not because of the writing; the writing is excellent (and it would have to be to keep me going for 800 pages), but some of the torture scenes could place this book in a horror category. But, a satisfying ending to a long series. Am I going to read The City of Mist? Not sure but considering. 4 stars

message 36: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1136 comments #7 Something to Hide Inspector Lynley #21. A series I have been reading since it came out. George takes a tough topic here and uses her expert writing with many characters and a couple of side stories to create another wonderful tale. 5 stars

message 37: by Linette (new)

Linette | 172 comments I enjoy the Lynley books too - although I enjoyed the earlier ones with Helen most. Barbara is a great character. I see that there is a new book in the series coming out this year.

I've lost track of this series. I read 4 or 5 back in early 2000's... Maybe someday I'll get back into it. I did enjoy.

message 39: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1136 comments I've enjoyed most of the Lynley books. I remember there was one (when Barbara was in Italy?) that I thought would never end & wasn't sure I would continue the series, but the last 2 or 3 have been really good.--Yes, I heard there's a new book coming out. They're also working on a new TV series.

I keep hearing this about the series. Of course, I will definitely read it now. I can tell that each story is getting just a little darker. Glad it still got a 4 star review from you. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, darker but I think you become attached to the characters and have to know what happens. Hope you enjoy!

Patricia | 1136 comments #8 The Girl in the Tower (Winternight Trilogy #2). I loved this book. When I first read The Bear and the Nightingale, it took me a minute to get into it, but I enjoyed this one all the way through. I think it was just me at the time. Anyway, looking forward to the third one. 5 stars

I think that's partly why I liked the second one so much better. I knew better what to expect. Plus, it just didn't work for me on audio.

Patricia | 1136 comments My ninth book: Kingdom of the Blind. I have mostly enjoyed this series, but honestly, am getting a little tired of it. This is almost blasphemy to some in my mystery book club, but I just don't find the characters as enchanting as others do. Something I think you need in a long series. Anyway, a good mystery overall. 3 stars

I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts, Bill. I know I'm in the minority though. This is a very well-loved series.
