It looks like we won’t be reading about the new raccoon-like aliens after all. Jerry Boyd died last night. 😢 No more books in Fat Man’s Gift (fantasy) series either.

That's sad - his books obviously brought pleasure to a large number of loyal readers.

2024 has seen a number of deaths related to the genre - Jerry Boyd, Steve Miller, John Burnside, Fredric Jameson, Paul Auster and Christopher Priest all spring to mind but I'm sure I'd heard of a lot more.

Oh no, that’s a shame. Heart attack in his sleep, according to his wife on Facebook.

The older I get, the higher the age where I think “that’s too young to die.” Currently that’s around 90. It’s a bummer for his fans and I am sad for his wife and family.

Oh we may get at least part of the story about the raccoon aliens! This was posted as a comment on Facebook:
