That's sad - his books obviously brought pleasure to a large number of loyal readers.
2024 has seen a number of deaths related to the genre - Jerry Boyd, Steve Miller, John Burnside, Fredric Jameson, Paul Auster and Christopher Priest all spring to mind but I'm sure I'd heard of a lot more.

The older I get, the higher the age where I think “that’s too young to die.” Currently that’s around 90. It’s a bummer for his fans and I am sad for his wife and family.
