It's so cliché to say- but still true- that I cannot believe we are in the final month of 2024. It's like I blinked and then Poof, here we are! I think were rounding out the month with some interesting prompts so take this chance to catch up on the books you meant to get to this year. with that I just want to extend merry wishes to all our members and their families and friends- I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season no matter what you celebrate!

The Prompts

Spin #1

✨the card I pulled from the deck was the prompt to read a book you think will be cozy or comforting. (perfect for the season, I think!)

Spin #2

✨ I'm sure you know what I mean by this prompt but in case you don't I'm looking for those hardcovers that have the cover art printed directly on the hardcover and don't come with a jacket. If you don't have one there are a couple ways to make this work. 1. if you have another copy of a book that you know has a jacket-less hardcover edition I will accept it or 2. If you have a hardcover that originally had a jacket but your copy has lost its cover I will also accept that but this should be a last resort pick!

Spin #3

✨ This challenge doesn't normally pop up two months in a row but I'm not mad at it!

Spin #4

✨ If you have any confusion on what I'm referring to here feel free to ask me!

Spin #5

✨ For this one you can use any word that came up in the last few months. If you scroll down on the page that pops up when you google "word of the day" you will see the words for the previous months.

Go forth and read! 🎄🎅🏼

1. A book I think will be cozy The Rules of Royalty (already started it, but only just finished chapter 3 this morning)
2. A jacketless hardcover 4. A book with a different colored spine and cover Jane Eyre (when I originally tried to read this book, it was from the library in a jacketless hardcover edition, the copy I own is a paperback with a black cover and purple spine, but the cover does not show up, even if I look up the book by ISBN)
3. A book between 121-130 on my GR TBR The Wicked Deep (#121)
5. based on the word of the day (gelidity- the quality or condition of being extremely cold or icy) Ice Kissed

For this moth, I finished The Rules of Royalty and only just started Ice Kissed, which I plan to finish later this week, but doubt I will have finished by New Year's Eve. Even though my goal for this challenge this month was not accomplished, I had an excellent year of reading (94 books, hopefully finishing one or two current reads before tomorrow), and only had 2 less than 3-star reads (although the one I hope to finish today might be a 1-star, we'll see). It has been an excellent reading year, both by the unprecedented volume (my previous record I believe was 68 books in a year), but also by the quality of books. Everything I have read has been enjoyable, and although some books took longer for me to finish than others, I never felt like I needed to give up on anything I read this year.
