I agree 100%! It always puts a smile on my face.

But, SECOND!"
Better late than never!! And it's still 2024 so you're not THAT late! Welcome to the party!

What she said!

I'm not going to bother with an "official" wrap up on my 2024 thread. I've said all that I need to say and honestly, I'm happy to put last year behind me and forget about it. :D
Currently reading my first book of 2025, The Cabinet of Curiosities. The first two books in the series were good, and I miss D'Agosta, but having all this Pendergast happening on the pages is awesome.
Need to go set a goal. Guess I'll go with 40 again.

I may or may not have bought a bunch of music gear lately. Aaaaand some software to get my DAW situation in better shape. Even put my Carbon 49 MIDI controller up on a stand where it's actually usable, since it won't fit on the desk.
It remains to be seen what will actually come of all of that. I have ideas, though. Might even be good ideas.
Now I think I need to go over to Homey's thread and nerd out with some product links.

The Cabinet of Curiosities was great, of course.
Fatality at the Festival was okay, but I think my love for that series is waning.
Earthlings was so weird but so good. I loved Convenience Store Woman so I decided to try this one and I'm glad I did.
Divine Intervention was great. I love that series so much.
The Librarian and the Book Thief was good but I didn't love it as much as the first in the series. I think part of it is, as much as I like it, the writer's voice is something I can't do too often or it begins to be less funny and more grating.
Blood Oath... Loved it. I first wishlisted / TBR'd the book like 9 years ago, finally bought it in 2023 when it was on sale cheap, and then took over a year before I read it. I will get the next in the trilogy at some point.
AND... I finally started The Passage! I think it's been on my Overdrive wishlist for more than a decade, then I eventually bought it instead of borrowing it, and now I'm finally reading it. :D
It's a long one so probably won't read as many books this month but I'm fine with that.
Messed around with my new music gear some. Been doing some gaming. More gaming than music, honestly, because after work my brain can only do much.
Oh, and mom had another trip to the hospital. 4 days this time. She had the flu. She's back home. She had a home health PT assessment today. The PT that came out was super attractive. So that was something.

I'm so sorry your mom was sick again. I hope she recovers completely.

Now I'll be the only one to have not read The Passage. Curses."
Thanks!
The Passage is pretty good so far. You should read it. :D With as long as it took me to get around to reading it, you should be find as long as you get to it within the next decade or so.

Now I'll be the only one to have not read The Passage. Curses."
Nope. I've not read it either.

Solidarity!

The Promised Neverland, Vol. 1
It took a turn. Off to request Volume 2 from the library.

Anyway.
Been doing a lot of tea drinking lately. It's not unusual for me to make a pot once a week or so but I discovered JusTea teas from Kenya and I'm hooked. Drinking tea on the daily the last few weeks.

Read 4 books in March, still on pace. Gotta go update my covers and series now.

Read 4 books in April. Consistency.
Mom was in the hospital twice last month but she's doing really, really good now.
Been playing Oblivion Remastered a lot.

Mom continues to do well, thankful for that.
Stopped playing Oblivion, started playing Cubic Odyssey, then switched to X4: Foundations, which I hadn't played in at least a year. There's something really satisfying about hiring pilots for my ships and then having them fly me around. :D
Edit: Oh, and I read 5 books but one was a novella.

You might like this one Christa, it is totally unhinged: Wave, Listen to Me!, Vol. 1
It really starts getting going in book 2.

Looks interesting! Added it to my wishlist so I don't lose track of it. Thanks for the rec!
"Oh yeah, glad your mom is doing well."
Thanks!

My gaming this month was hitting up some slightly older favorites - Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Haven't yet finished the latter, but getting close. After that I'll be back to Ark Survival Ascended because they released the Ragnarok map finally. Already played on it a bit just to check the performance and it feels nice. Looking forward to exploring on it more to see what they've done with my favorite spots.
Mom is fine.
My cousin and I are planning a train trip to Tampa but we don't know when because my work is up in the air at the moment. I know my hours are going to be lower after next week, and I will be the only contractor left. They're keeping me and they keep telling me to hang on while they find stuff for me to do after this reporting rush is over. Trying to be optimistic. I don't have a lot of options for work so I'm praying that this works out.
Anyway, that's my update. Better go update the covers post before I forget.

Glad your mom is okay.
You like games and you've probably seen the Bofuri memes around the internet. The actual manga is hilarious. Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. Light Novels, Vol. 1. I just finished the first volume. Some really good light fun. Borrow it from the library if you can, or just read it there while browsing.

Ok, covers are updated.
Still working, so that's good. They put me on a project for the SEO team, and once that is done I will be filling in for someone going on leave. Up in the air after that, but at least I know they find me useful.
Been playing Cyberpunk 2077, finally. It came out in 2020 and that was a very weird year so I just kind of missed it, then I wasn't sure if I'd like it. Fast forward to 2025: I recently did a replay of both Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. (Double replay, actually - full fresh run then NG+ on both.) I was looking for something to scratch a similar itch and remembered Cyberpunk, so I grabbed it on sale. Finished one playthrough and immediately started another. I'm pretty obsessed with it. LOL
