Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments Thank you! It's a joy to be sitting here picking out books. Bradley was in the hospital the first week of this month. He was very sick, but thankfully didn't require surgery.

Interesting selections, as always Martha. Quite a few series I'm enjoying there. Best wishes to Bradley.

Ioana | 2127 comments I don't think I've read any of these, can't wait to read your reviews. All the best to Bradley, hope you both have a quiet 2025.

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments I had to change a few due to missing books. didn't want to spend the rest of this month looking for them.

Bradley is doing ok. He has Crohn's and the scar tissue plus inflammation were creating a problem. He's on prednisone right now. And one more fun thing in his future ... he has to have his gallbladder out. He has a porcelain gallbladder which I had never heard of. It's very rare. Well, isn't that just so special! He just cannot catch a break.

Never heard of a porcelain gallbladder; but the surgery is relatively easy and quick. He should feel improvement with it gone. Not 100% of course, but better.

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments That’s what I’ve been told. The diet restrictions will be the worst. One report I read said it affects 0.06 to 0.8%. Crazy. An excess of bile causes calcium to build up in the lining which makes the gallbladder look like a porcelain jar. I’m guessing it will be after the holidays since we’ve not been called yet.

He’s going to try to do a live DJ session on TikTok tonight. I’m so happy he’s going to try. The Christmas inflatables have been a bust this year. Too much wind & rain.

Lea (leaspot) | 3640 comments Your list looks interesting. I haven't read any of those books yet.

Sorry to that Bradley has to have surgery again, I have never heard of a porcelain gallbladder either. Poor guy.

Best wishes!

Wow. Interesting, Martha. Well, surgery sounds like the best option and hopefully, will provide some immediate relief. DJ-ing sounds like fun. I hope he has the energy for it.

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments Happy New Year!! 🎆 Hope you all have a healthy & prosperous year!

I’m starting with 2 books that I have put off for a long time.
Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs
The Bletchley Women by Patricia Adrian
I’ll add links later. Am in a crochet mood. Actually just connecting motifs for an afghan I made a while ago. I hate sewing. 😄

Hey, Martha! Just checking in on you. How are you feeling about this challenge?? ☺️

message 19: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments Hey there! I’m doubtful I’ll finish it, but anything is possible. 🙂 I’m trying to make sure I read something every day.

I’m super busy lately as it’s annual report time for the library. My last time to do it. I have one more meeting this week and that will be it. I gave them 40 years … I think that’s enough. 😄

B & I are both feeling better except for arthritis. I’ve been doing my leg exercises & that is really helping. No falls in almost 2 months. Still using the cane except when I forget it.

Hope you are doing well. Can’t wait to see your garden pics this year.

Hey, its only April. I'm moving so slow, you could probably surpass me!

Arthritis is no joke. The hubs just had knee surgery because it was so bad, and I had the same surgery last year. Getting older can be so irritating. Ugh

Congratulations on your retirement. 40 years of your face, and your spirit; is their loss. Enjoy It!

Hey Martha. Just checking in on you, to see how you are doing and how the reading is going?

Martha (marthas48) | 767 comments Hey there, Alondra! I’m still reading small bits here and there. Crocheting & cleaning is taking up time. I like the crocheting … cleaning not so much. 😀 I did listen to a book while I crocheted a bit but I forget to do that. Need to make it a habit. Can’t believe the summer is almost over.
Haven’t fallen since May, but am pretty unsteady. So annoying, but I’m grateful I haven’t broken anything! Bradley is doing a little better lately, but is so worried about me.
Thanks for checking on me. I appreciate you more than you know!!

Hey Martha. Watch those falls and take care when rising from a sitting position or laying. No rushing! Good for Bradley!! Woot

Your crochets are always beautiful, so I'm glad you're doing so much of it.

((hugs))
