Hi, everyone! This is the thread for the January "Commit to one book monthly" challenge. In this thread, post one book you intend to read for January, so everyone else can see your pick. When you finish reading it, we'd love for you to come back and post your opinion.

Well, in keeping with my plan to finish 2024's independent challenge in 2025, I'll read something from that list:
Dillinger by Harry Patterson

I found that book both disturbing and moving, Pam. I'll be curious to see what you think.

@Lindsey -- I liked that one!

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 233 comments I finished Never Let Me Go. I thought it was really good (4 stars). I’ve seen the movie, though, so it was no surprise to me what was happening. I liked the way the story unfolded. I am considering watching the movie again since it’s been 14 years. I’m curious how Hollywood changed it.

I'm listening to mine today: Dillinger by Harry Patterson and so far it's rollicking good fun.

Jackie | 1103 comments Mrs. Quinn's Rise to Fame by Olivia Ford was a quick read and I liked it. There were many sentences that made me think and shed a few tears. Part of this was due to a few deaths of friends that have occurred within this last year. Also, the main character is 77 and her husband is 83, so the issue of aging is involved.

"When they finally sat down to eat, she watched Bernard in a focused bubble of hunger, each forkful trembling toward his mouth. There was something vulnerable about him tonight, the unsteadiness of his jaw and the droop of his neck. It was as if she had caught a glimpse of him without her."
